trouble shifting from 2-3gear

hey! i have been reading many people are having trouble shifting from 1-2 but not many people have trouble shifting from 2-3. Most of the times i shift to 2-3 it seems like it doesn't let me go in and i have to force in it sometimes. It also feels like there is something there blocking me in the way of shifting into 3rd gear like a metal block ? I am holding the clutch all the way down too. If anyone has the same problem or knows how to fix it please leave some tips. THANX

No trouble here. However, I've grinded a few times in the past month or so going from 2nd to 3rd. Only happens on 2-3. Could be that I didn't push my clutch in enough during those times (I usually press it 1/2 to 2/3 of the way). But yeah, totally different from what you're talking about.

Do you only notice it when you shift quickly, or even when you're taking your time? Could be that you're not going directly into third and you're off a little and trying to go right between 1 and 3, or just catching the corner between 1 & 3.

No it happens when I shift slowly also, i try to go in to third then i feel something metal blocking then i pull the shifter back just a lil bit and try again it goes in smooth! I am sure im going in directly in to third.... When it block it almost feels like there is something pulling the shifter back i feel like if i force it it would grind i never forced it in tho.. I am also pressing the clutch to the floor still happens

Does the clutch pedal feel mushy? Has this been happening recently or is it ongoing?

Clutch feels normal.. I just had it replaced 2 days ago! Its been happening before and i though replacing the clutch and flywheel would make it go away but no its still there. I might take it to the dealer and see but as soon as i get there i will not be able to replicate it lol

AFAIK there is no shift interlock on the G's. That is, you can shift from any gear to any gear without anything electronic preventing you to do so. How many miles on the car? What year? This information should of been provided in the first post.

If I had to guess, I'd say it's possible your syncro's are worn for gear 3. Once the rpms fall enough to match the input shaft of the trans, the shifter slicks right into gear.

***Rev matching is important on both up and down shifts.

Guys thanks for trying to help out, I appreciate it! The car is an 08 just hit 69k, just got new clutch though it would solve the problem but no. It does feel like a something is up with the syncro.. shifting to 4,5,6 are smooth as butter! Does the warranty cover problems with the syncro's that is part of transmission not clutch correct? Thanks for the help

I'm going to go with Jsolo on this one (in regards to synchros and rev matching). As far as I know, from past experiences, synchronizers are considered wear and tear and not covered by warranty.

incorrect mister c, your g has a power train warry untill 70k,i have had a handfull of these years g and have replaced the trans for this issue, prob syncs or could also be a worn shaft, either way take it into dealer and go for a ride with the svc man or advisor. inf does not consider sync wear and tear items in the trans, hope this helps
