Sorry. Every car forum gets infected with 'what oil is best' threads. The same question gets asked over and over again because no one does a search. On top of that, there is really nothing vehicle specific regarding oil. There is plenty of oil information available on oil sites. I really suggest you look there for oil answers. You seldom get useful answers on vehicle sites, just a whole bunch of opinions from people that don't know much about oil.

Change as many times as you want if you can afford or just DIY. It's always good for the car. Like me, I put new oil be4 I go to track and change oil after track.

No kidding...more than you'd ever want to know about oil here. It's like a religion over there... There are even people who will custom-blend oil if your car has specific issues with oil (cough...335i...cough )

Same here. A good dino oil is way more than sufficient if you're going to change at 3750 miles anyway

I NEVER go to a dealership for anything but warranty repairs. The exception is the BMW's I have owned during the free service period. Even if you can't DYI, a car dealer would be the last place I would take my car for any kind of service. You must have a local independent garage that has a good reputation. Get to know them and they can service all your cars regardless of the brand, save you a little money and time and not screw your car up.

My first oil change at my local dealership was $30.00. Very reasonable in my opinion and worth it for warranty issues.....

Just so that I dont have to keep track of reciepts or anything. Since I have all my services performed there if something goes wrong they cant say it was anything I did or did not do.....
Peace of mind for me really. I know other people are comfortable changing their own oil and keeping track of everything. Call me lazy but to me it's just easier this way....
