Well I'd think with our debris shield that covers our oil pan and oil filter, this would be less likely of a problem, right? Especially for those of us that don't track our cars?

i dont know. My S2000 had an undertray on it already. but i assume if your not tracking the car and its not low(my s2000 was on the ground) then you should be ok. but i have still heard a fair amount of bad stories that i wouldnt trust it ever again. i'll stick with a bolt. just changing to a magnetic drain bolt to help eliminate any debris
It's been a while since I changed my oil on the G, but isn't the oil drain plug situated on the side (somewhat) of the oil pan at the bottom? For you to shear off the plug, wouldn't you have had to completely bottom out and smash up your oil pan? If that's the case, the drain plug is the least of your worries.

Yeah the plug should be on the side.
Changing oil is very easy. I had to do it for a while when I had my G very lowered that it wouldnt fit on the stealerships lift.

i didnt do anything to my G. it was on my S2000 which was on the bottom and straight down.
Bumping this thread, just had my 5th oil change at 22600, and my Service Engine Light is still on? How can I remove it? I reset all my settings and its still on.

BTW I also use 5w30 mobil 1 synthetic.
The service engine light will not come on for an oil change... you will get a maintenance reminder that you have to reset. but the service engine light shouldn't come on for an oil change interval
