+1 I've done it blind on a few cars and it sucks taking off extra undercovers you didn't need to. No harm in asking and getting a little tip or two that makes life easier.

I couldn't agree more on doing an oil change yourself. Geezus my 12 year old neighbor could do it first time with just looking at 2 pictures and grabbing 2 wrenches and do it. Some people put so much drama in a oil change its ridiculous.

The copper washer on the drain plug? Yes buy a new one, 92 cents at the dealer.

It has nothing to do with a Purolator filter.
