Depends on how fast I want to accelerate. I usually shift around 3K-3.5K for normal driving and up to redline when going aggresively.

Just leave it in D man. If you don't know when to shift, its probably not a good idea for you to even mess with it.

Dont worry about the speed, worry about the RPMs.

For regular driving I would shift around 3-4k, for faster driving, anywhere close to red-line...

In addition to watching the rpms, you should also listen and feel for engine response.

Just another question to add. I notice when going about 80mph, if i click the shifter over, it downshifts to 4th. Wat i dont know is at wat speed from 4th to downshift into 3rd? Any ideas?

The G35 did the same thing. As far what speed to downshift to third, depending on what type of driving you're asking about. For normal driving, I usually do it around 45mph. When I'm on the freeway and wanna pass, I usually do it at 60mph. They actually have the recommended speeds in the manual.
