How many people do it at ~500 miles>
When (how many miles before) you jump into syn oil?

I do. Supposed to get the metal shavings from the engine out, in fact I'll be doing that tomorrow 540 miles. Don't recommend the Syn its thicker and the engine will not be as responsive. I live in FL so ill proly but semi blend in on my next oil change since its so hot down here.

The dealer set mine at 3750 for both the oil and filter. I will probably do it sooner than that though.

I'm doing my first roughly at 1500... Then will continue on going forward with the recommended 3750

3750 just an oil change. Same with 7500 and 10, I think the first major stuff is around 15,000.. I think its a good idea to change the oil at 500 miles and then 3500 on after that. Change the diff fluid after 15,000 and the tranny every 20,000 if you drive in MM a lot as I do. I put 80k miles on my G35, never even a dead battery!

My dad advised me to purchase the maintenance package B which I think is really stupid since the maintenance schedule is an oil change at every 7500 miles/6 months (which ever comes first). I still think thats a really long time in between changes and I'm wondering why Infiniti would even offer it since I'm sure the oil will be like taffy when it comes to changing time. Should I find out if I can switch to plan A? It's been a week since I've had the car so I still might be able to do it. Either way I'm still gonna change it before it hits 1000 to clean out the metal shavings.

Whenever.. I started putting Syn in my G35 at 1500 miles, then back to 5W-30 at 50,000. If anything just do a Synthetic blend, not full. Infniti says 5W-30 for the G37, so 5W-30 it is, no need to spend the extra money just change it frequently and use a good filter.

Do you change your own oil or let the dealer do it?

I have 350 miles on mine...I'm waiting till the 2500/3000 mile mark (Dealer told me change at 3750)

From what I understand the oil in there has additives from the factory that help break the engine in.

I already am babying the engine and plan to do so until the 3000 mark.

They should allow you to switch to A Plan.. After all, it's more money for them.

Yet another big debate. Ultimately there is no proof that waiting approx 5000 to 7500 miles before you use synthetic makes any difference.

Personally, I'm doing my first oil change at 1500 with Mobil 1 5W30 Full Synthetic (because I still have a case left over that I used with my G35) and will be using Amsoil Synthetic beginning at the regular 3750.

I would change my own oil but its a pain in the **** to get the splash guards off that thing.. I just take it to an oil place and have them do it. I always watch them just to make sure the filter was changed and the oil was drained.
