AT Downshift Problem
AT Downshift Problem
I was just wondering if anyone else notice or is experiencing the same things that I am. When in "D". The car never downshifts to "2nd". Wondering if this is how the gear is set. Alsways stay in either "3rd" or "1st"
I have had a couple of weird issues I think - I think I was in paddle shift mode, and then moved the shifter to the right, which should shut if off - I think I redlined 1st gear once somehow - the auto revlimited kicked in at 7500rpms, I thought I was going to blow the motor up. I kept 2nd guessing myself thinking I left it in manual mode, but I know I moved it to the right.
Anyone else experience anything weird like that?

Nope my car definitely downshifts to second on D, I think this is more of a driver learning thing though. I always engine brake within reason to lights, I avoid heavy use of the brakes and can't stand people who ride their brakes when slowing down (something I learned to hate back with my G35C with attrocious brake wear). My car seems to have learned that from me and usually engine brakes towards lights, it's like reading my mind.
However Steve2112's issue I have noticed. On one occasion while going down a hill in D, the car seemed to downshift and revs shot to 4000. That wasn't the behavior I expected from fuel economy D mode. I made sure the shifter was in D and accelerated from a turn going downhill still, the car seemed to still just stick as long as possible in gear up to 4000 before it shifted (this was very light/granny acceleration BTW), than the behavior came back to normal. Still it was like the AT was getting confused with D and DS mode.

Do you mean when you are flooring it?
How many miles do you have on it? It may be restricting your downshifts to when you are below a certain speed until breakin (just a guess) I have been driving mine in manual mode since I bought it.
