09 g37x stock dyno run - pleasantly surprised

Finally had a chance today to go get a dyno run in to get some base numbers before I start with the mods on my 2009 g37x AT sedan. When I found out the shop I was going to had a dyno dynamics I had visions of really low numbers running through my head, but it turned out pretty good. Now that I've got a base run I've got my R2C intake back in and will be doing M370 manifold, FI HFC/CBE, and uprev tune after I make it through this quarter.

It's good that you have a baseline number to start with. But keep in mind that there are so many variables to take in to account when comparing dyno results. Unless all the conditions are kept consistent in both runs, you are not getting an accurate comparison.

However, something is always better than nothing, right??

Pls keep us posted w/ your results, since I have similar mods for my sedan.

Yeah, I tried to write down as many vairables as I could so I can try to keep everything similar when I make it back for my next run. I will keep this updated as I go. I'm going to try to wait til I can do most of what I'm looking to do together so it will probably be Feb/March.....really anxious to what gains I can get.

Nice work man.. Sounds about right? I made 298 WHP tuned with intake and exhaust on a mustang dyno. Remember the AWD on kicks in when the rears slip. So other than that its RWD.. NICE !!

Man, my AWD is so much slower than my RWD. It sad. I don't know if it was the mods, or the 6MT or what but my X just feels slow. I mean I know its not a fast car but what the hell! I guess I am going to have to mod it afterall...
My intake/exhaust made a big difference on my '08. So we will see. Not bad numbers though. I would love 300WHP. And Infiniti needs to make it a god damn 6MT!!! It better be before my lease comes up

Glad to see someone post some more stock baseline numbers. Thanks.

I'm curious. Is it normal...do most vehicles lose >15% of the BHP by the time it is transferred to the road? Seems like quite a bit.

^ for an auto w/AWD, more than 15% loss is common. manual w/RWD typically has the least sacrificial drivetrain loss.

Thanks for doing a baseline run, good to see some other numbers out there. I'd say you're doing pretty well in terms of overall drivetrain losses on an AWD AT.

The #'s are nice but take the result with a grain of salt as every single dyno produces different results. Just as a reference, my 4dr 09X put down 256 awhp and 222 lb/ft with a K&N typhoon intake. On the same dyno, an 09 2dr rwd G37 put down 251 RWHP with no mods both were done in 3rd gear. So really just take the result as a starting point and see what the mods add on the same dyno. Also I know someone asked if the AWD kicks in and it does almost immediately, when he started the roll in 1st gear the front wheels started going almost the same time as the rear, it was maybe 1 sec later that the front wheels kicked in.

What transmissions were in those cars? A 7at should be run in 5th gear for best results, not sure about a manual.

Both are 7at, Not sure why he chose 3rd but next time I get it dynoed after some more mods I will have him do one run in 5th just to see what the results are, but to be consistent I will get the others in 3rd again so I can compare the two dynos with new mods as I don't want the results to be skewed that much.
