Hypertech Max Energy Sport - Question - 2011 Infiniti G37

Hey guys,

I have a 2011 Infiniti G37 with the K&N Series 69 Typhoon Intake installed and just finished reprogramming my G37 with the Hypertech Max Energy Sport using the following settings:

- Hypertech Power Tuning ENABLED
- Top-Speed Limiter 155MPH
- 0-60 Throttle Restriction REMOVED

The question I have is with everything stock, using the Hypertech settings above + the K&N Series 69 Typhoon Intake, should I make changes to the RPM “Rev” Limiter settings on the Max Energy Sport programmer? This is a daily driver and I don't use it on the track or anything but I do like to open it up and have fun on the open road. Has anyone changed the RPM “Rev” Limiter settings with a successful outcome?

Thanks

Don't mess with the rev limiter settings. Plus, hypertech can only lower the limit, not increase it iirc.

Thanks tharbemiko, they actually said the same thing just now.

sneakers: I definitely noticed an improvement, I can tell the difference from having just the intake to the intake + the max energy sport. Much more responsive off the line and it seems to be much more explosive mid-range. I like it.

what is"0-60 Throttle Restriction REMOVED"?

OEM G37 prevents the throttle from being wide open when accelerating hard from 0?

Here is copy & paste from Hypertech's Max Energy Sport page:

"0-60 Throttle Restriction

The "selectable throttle restriction" tunes the engine control systems for better low speed performance without sacrificing driveability, but it does not disable the torque management completely. There are many different torque management systems active at any given time while driving. During our tuning development we altered most of these systems in different combinations to assess the impact on performance, and driveability. We took the best combination of those changes and combined them with further tuning to improve the overall performance and driveability under all driving conditions. The overall affect was so dramatic we felt that all customers would benefit more if the changes were user selectable rather than "forced."

errr ok... language is too marketing-hype-ish

didn't know that the car had torque management (i suppose limits excessive torque to prevent killing its own components?). will look into that. thx

Definitely remove the Throttle Restriction. I have the Max Energy Sport for my 2009 G37X and have been using it since it came out. It really does make a huge difference over the stock setting. The stock restriction is basically a governor. For instance, if you ever have to floor it, the stock setting will stop the rev at the pre-defined (mid-range) rpm setting for that gear before automatically shifting to the next. With the rev limiter off, you can maximize each gear by hitting a high rpm. It reacts well based on how you “request” a quick burst of speed. You will notice a power difference; in a good way.

Glad you got it sorted out, neep3r... I love my Hypertech too. Eventually though, when I have some $ to burn, I'll probably end up with a custom UpRev tune. We will see... but for now, with my Gen 3 intakes, ERZ HFCs, and FI catback exhaust, I love it.
