Well, I sure picked a fine time to skip out on my moderator duties and be busy with work, I completely missed this...the brace looks like a really great MOD...

Anyone know if either of these braces work with the Nismo finned cover?...the Bell website says "aftermarket" finned covers for and OEM covers for the others ,but the aftermarket one seems specifically for the Z1 Cover...technically the Nismo finned cover is OEM...sooooooo

I suspect the aftermarket one would work for the Nismo cover but would be nice to have confirmation...

EDIT: I sent a PM to Arthur and he replied confirming that if you have the Nismo cover its the "aftermarket" brace you need

There's another group buy that just started for the Royalty Performance brace.

I can confirm the Z1 brace WILL fit the OEM differential housing and the Z1 finned cover.

IIRC from last week, Bell said the 3-point brace is actually stronger than the 4-point. Bigger single bolt, smaller amount of brace material.

I don't mind admitting this with ignorance, but the idea of using two diff cover bolts is a little unnerving. However, clearly this is a real thing, and I've not found online instances of it causing problems, like cracking the cover, or a leaking fluid. Not yet, at least. Either way, there's going to be a whole crew of myG37 members putting this on their cars in the next few months, myself included.

My interpretation was that they were of the same strength and the 3-point brace was designed with the finned Z1 cover in mind. Putting my pretend engineer hat on for a moment, I'd think the 4-point distributes the load better than the 3-point would.

Compare the lever arm at the top attachment when the brace deals with side loads.

I thought the same thing, but the original diff. mount is just one big bolt through the cover if I remember correctly so it shouldn't cause an issue. I will keep an eye on it since I will probably flush that fluid a lot more often than most with track days.

My 4-point diff brace showed up today, bubble-wrapped into a USPS bag, with two sets of bolts and washers, and two nyloc nuts. It was powdercoated black. Seems extremely sturdy. Someone else weigh it... but I'm guessing 2 lbs. My first impression was how it was actually smaller than whatever picture I had in my head.

My second thought was how the heck am I supposed to get a torque wrench against the upper diff cover bolt? The bar itself is in the way. Looking forward to reading installation comments here from other people with the 4-point brace.

[edit]

3 feet of snow has me literally trapped inside my house, and it's 15 degrees Fahrenheit outside. I suspect this will collect dust for a few months. Even if we warm up sometime this winter, I still think the best way to asses this thing is to wait until summer wheels and tires are back on the car.

Here's a pic on the dining room table. Everything has to pass through the dining room table, LOL

That looks pretty sturdy Rochester. 3ft. of snow?!? Wow! We have had a pretty tame winter here this year. 6" a couple weeks ago and a few 1-3" drops, but nothing like that.

14" to 20" this weekend, but this stupid monster drift across my driveway. Meh.

It's looking to me like I have to guess the torque by feel with a hand wrench on the topmost cover bolt. Anybody else get their 4-point brace yet? I'm going to have to bump the GB thread and shake the tree.

Yeah I got mine in. Any concerns with the small gaps here (red arrow)? Noticed mine had them too on both sides.

I haven't gotten under the car yet to do this. After seeing a comment from Mattlorentzoe about rust I just bought a can of this to apply to the brace before I install it:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008BMP0KE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008BMP0KE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Rochester, so are you saying that with the limited space under there you can't fit a torque wrench in there for the top bolt?
