Scrolling back through the thread and seeing a link posted to bell race works site confirms that the beefier 4 point Brace IS for the stock differential cover and my 3 point brace IS the one for the aftermarket z1 cover. So my question that still remains is > has anyone actually tried installing this onto the oem differential cover?

Devil... this from the Group Buy thread:

Hope this info helps, and if I had to answer I'd say the Z1 would be the best option if you plan on getting a finned cover in the near future. Thanks.

Yes, the bracket will work on the stock/OEM Diff Cover. I have that bracket on my OEM. I even just went outside and took this photo....

Its good to remember that we are all trying to be part of a community here where we all enjoy the same vehicle and hobby and try to help each other. A little patience and a little respect goes a long way with one another , be safe all and hope America pulls through this very hard time. Much love from your neighbor, canada. 🍺

Can confirm as well. I have the 3-point on the OEM cover. Can't grab a pic at the moment but I believe I posted pics of my install in the link John posted.

Is this still your car? Beautiful Coupe.

Is that a 7AT or 6MT? How is it modified for suspension, bushings, bracing, etc.? I mean, what's the baseline before putting this brace in, and what are you expecting out of it?

Oh and 6mt all the way, lightweight flywheel/exedy clutch, Stillen oil cooler, strut tower braces, some other little bits and pieces. Nothing spectacular yet.

I have been restoring the cars health to where she should be before pushing all the rest of the mods i want. Im just about there, Just minor coolant issues to resolve.

Down the road, Suspension, final drive , and power wise will just be full bolt ons and a tune. I've always been more suspension focused on my cars since i prefer doing laps than qm. Hope i didn't offend you man lol cheers 🍺

Finally got the OEM diff housing style brace installed. I also have poly diff bushings and subframe collars on, so the difference in feel might be minimal.

The previous upgrades will probably help you notice more of a change because you already pulled a lot of slop out of the drivetrain. I had the same upgrades and the diff brace made the biggest difference out of all of them.

Replaced the exhaust gaskets on the G and noticed my rear diff bushing finally let go. not sure if it's related but worth keeping an eye on after install.

What related to what? Main bushing, or the sides bushings? OEM or aftermarket?

I'm trying to read your mind. Hold still.

I don't think the brace would cause your diff bushing to go, if anything I'd imagine it would extend the life of the bushing since there is less movement and stress on it from wheel hop ect.

Perhaps your bushing was slowly nearing the end of its life and decided to annoy you this instant. At least you can try some whiteline bushings (or whichever brand you decide to give a go with) and ditch that gooey stock one now.

We need to make eye contact or...?

Sorry, little one definitely interfered with the completion of that thought lol. The main bushing that holds the differential to the subframe let loose. OEM fluid filled bushing; surprised it lasted as long as it did.

You're probably right. I've been keeping an eye on it since the install and noticed then there were cracks starting to appear on the bottom, where the fluid is housed. I guess my thought is the extra force and vibrations have to go somewhere and maybe put more stress on the bushing. Who knows -- most likely due to the extra buff ponies after the tune. Epoxy trick will be the immediate go to.

I'm surprised there isn't an insert made for that bushing. Most daunting part is getting the old one out; and I no longer have the time to tackle something like that anymore. Paying a shop isn't something I want to do either...A poly insert that fills the fluid filled voids would be a quick and less involved fix.
