In DFW area until I move back to New Orleans, need install advice!

Hello All

Katrina has forced me to abandon my New Orleans apartment in the Warehouse District until it is safe to move back. Thinking I will stick it out 1 more month to allow essential services to resume in my fair city.

Anyway, until that time, I will be in Ft. Worth with family. Luckily I got my G with me and am considering doing some minor audio mods to the car.

Adding a JL12W4, 4-channel amp, ditching rear deck speakers and rear seat speakers, replacing front door speakers with some Focal components. Leaving stock head unit. (am I going to need a LOC to hook up this amp?)

I would like to know what install places you guys recommend. There are so many different ones in the area. I am on a very tight budget, but looking for some decent work to get rid of the Bose I have.

Also, why are the girls so damn hot here in Texas?? And can I bring one or two back with me to New Orleans????

I'm actually in process of doing almost exactly the same thing. A friend of mine is a store manager of Car Toys, and one of his installers is going to do a "side job" for me.

You would only need an LOC if your amp takes RCA's only. I just ordered the PAC AOEM-NIS2 adapter since I'm keeping my Bose head unit and adding two amps.

LOC = line out converter which converts speaker level inputs which Bose has to RCA level. I think that's right.

Our club is set up to receive discounts at Car Toys in Hurst. If you are in Ft Worth you are not too far. The store is right outside the North East Mall.
810 NE Loop 820
Hurst, Tx 76053

Ask for Phillip, Brent or Steve. Tell them you are part of the DFW G35 Owners Club and that you were referred by me Robert Lignelli. I'm running Focal Utopia's and JL amps. You will also want to have Juan or Robert do the install, they will baby your ride. I hope this helps.

The PAC AOEM-NIS2 is an adapter made by PAC Audio:

The OEM-1 makes it easy to upgrade a factory ' premium' system, such as a GM Delco/ Bose® or a Ford/ JBL. Whether replacing the factory radio or amplifier, the OEM-1 is your 'plug and play' solution. The OEM-1 provides a 4 channel RCA output when adding an additional. The OEM-1 gives you a fast and accutate installation without the need to cut wires. The AOEM kits will also work for adding an amp to some GM vehicles without Bose® or with Monsoon.

How many watts should this 4channel amp be?

I was thinking 400w. 200bridged for the JL12w4 and 100 to each component 6.5

Does this sound about right?

100 watts to a set of components is usually a pretty good amount even if they're rated lower.

I believe the 12W4 is rated at 200 watts, so it should be just fine.

Thanks for all of the advice.

I eventually used Auto Restyling Center on Camp Bowie.

They did a FANTASTIC job and at a decent price.

Check out this thread for pics and info on my install:http://g35driver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=75247
