Fuel leak

I came home today and there was a bunch of fuel leaking right in front of the passenger side rear tire. I caledl up Infiniti can they told me to call Infiniti roadside assistance. I go outside and this fuel is coming out pretty good. I decide to risk it (bad idea) and take it to the dealer about 10 minutes away.

As I'm rolling into the dealership, my engine just dies, I must have just leaked out a whole tankful. I really thank the Lord that I made it to the dealership. The thing that worries me is that the car just got out of warranty (62K). I just got a fuel system flush at the dealership this Monday. I wonder if that had something to do with it. My guess is the dealer may try to get out of fixing it and I'll have to pay for it.

On the bright side I get an 07 loaner and this thing is quick. I thought to myself, maybe it's time put a deposit down for a G37. But then I saw a new Altima coupe on the way home, so maybe not. I'm just a little bummed now, I was looking forward to installing my projector headlights this weekend.

I say check it out, use your resources, and make sure the service department is your best friend. Falling in love with a new car all over again is no easy task . Oh, and the Altima coupe has nothing on the G37. NOTHING.

The quick connect that is connected to the in tank fuel pump came loose. They took out the back seat and the fuel soaked the pad underneath the seat.

They ordered a new connector and seat pad and hopefully I'll get my car back tomorrow. It will be ~$250 to fix. It could have been worst I suppose. At least the car didn't catch on fire.

^+1. Stuff like that just doesn't "come loose." Especially on an Infiniti. Glad no one was hurt though.

He could have been killed driving it to the dealer.

Not a smart move.

Man, I'd say argue this with the dealership...."I just got a fuel system flush at the dealership this Monday. I wonder if that had something to do with it. My guess is the dealer may try to get out of fixing it and I'll have to pay for it." things like that don't simply just come lose...i have them do my stupid fuel line recall and now my gas gauge tends to act up like it used a couple yrs back...they always screw up things and try to pass the buck.... glad ur ok man...

I went to Crest Infiniti. I'll give it a go at the dealer and see if they'll budge. When they do a fuel system flush, they go through the front. I don't know maybe in that process it came loose. The only other thing that I can think of is if the tank got pushed up somehow when I ran over something a few months ago. My car has a lot of scrapes on the undercarriage. That seems unlikely though.

Needless to say, it is out of warranty, I'll probably do my own oil changes etc from now on. I don't think a fuel flush was even necessary, but it may have just aggravated something that could have come out sooner or later.

At this point I just want my car back. These 07 sedans are nice (easy to put in two sets of golf clubs), but I'm use to a stiffer suspension.
