Exclamation Known Problems for '06 Coupes?

Has anyone heard that there is a problem with the '06 G35 Coupes? Mine has been consuming oil WAY too fast...it went through 4 and a half quartes of oil within 3K miles. It's under warranty as it has 7K total miles on it and my dealer, Crest Infiniti, said they contacted Nissan and an engineer told them that they were knowledgeable of a problem with the '06 Coupes and that not to do anything for now until the "fix" was developed by Nissan as they are working on it...could this be serious? They told me that they would call me when the "fix" was available and for now to keep running my car and just check the oil every 1K miles or so. Hey, any feedback would be more than appreciated. Thanks!

the problem you are having is called oil consumption. you definitely need to get your engine replaced under warranty since there is no simple "fix". they should be doing an oil consumption test on your car. Take it to Grubbs or Sewell. do a search for "oil consumption" and you'll see that many people are having this problem. i have an 05 6mt with 20k miles and no problems yet.

I just finished doing the oil consumption test for Crest and that is when Crest told me that the Nissan engineer told them to not do anything as there was a supposed "fix" *Exactly what the service tech told me*...I had to hold back from laughing...so should I just take it to Grubbs as I have heard good things about them?

that sucks. your car is not operating correctly, burning tons of oil and they wont fix it? How are you supposed to drive your car safely without worrying that your engine will overhead. That's BS, take it to grubbs. they're the dfw g club sponsors and should take care of you. give them a call first.

Shoot, I don't think it sounds right so I even took the steps of calling into the Nissan North American Corporate Headquarters up in TN and they said they would look into it and get back to me in a couple of days. I just don't want to continue running something that I know isn't working correctly and all I want is it to be fixed and that way they won't be hearing from me regarding this issue. You know what I mean?

Unhappy

Thanks firefox...I wish someone at my dealership would have just made me aware of this possible problem as then in turn I would have kept an eye on my oil level...as now I am fearful that I've already caused irreversible damage to my engine.
