thanks! i've put the 3 parts below, the bolt, spacer, and spacer gasket, for those interested.
has anyone seen the difference the spacer makes? my max cold level fluid is sitting on the max of the hot fluid level mark of the 2008 dipstick ( part# 31086-ey00a ). i'm wondering if it's along the lines of 1/2 inch, or 1/4 inch.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but basically adding this dipstick gives you a wrong level reading? So what is the point then? Just for easier oil changes?
From looking at the pictures on how the dipstick is supposed to be installed, it looks really difficult due to the tiny space. Easy when the engine is out but nobody is gonna do that....

The area looks impossible to reach/get to but in all reality it's not. Being that the tube is pretty hard to bend, you just need to spin it past wherever it catches on which is usually the wiring harness.
I can still check my levels and add, etc however I no longer follow the original markings. Recently had the oil cooler spring a small leak which helped me post-pone the fix until another week just by simply adding. I did not have the time to properly lift the car, level it and measure.
I had leaked about 1/4 of a quart and in all honestly I would have waited the same if I had not had the dipstick which could have put me even lower and maybe start to give transmission issues.

Thank you for this. Another mod to add to the list then, if just for easy change. I found all parts relatively cheap in japan for only 39.90 USD without shipping.

So I have noticed incorrect levels as well. Very minimal though, you could even say that removing the spacer would give you the accurate reading. In my vehicle I measured the level at the pan first and then marked the new High level in the dipstick.

i was thinking of finding something to make little notches, but don't know what could
I just did the mod. The bolt holding the dipstick to the transmission snapped off pretty easily. I was able to secure the dipstick to the engine with the top mount. Time will tell if this will leak. I may try to attach the dipstick to the transmission with JB weld or some other way, very frustrated.

Also I wish someone had the ability to do a where used on the dipstick so I knew which models I needed to look for. ***ANYONE***

You all should set your levels by OEM 3.7 procedure then install your stick and check. It might not be accurate FYI however it doesnt really matter if it is.
Mark the new MAX on the stick. For me I know that all I have to do is look out for 3/4s

HEY! I'm new here.. Name's not actually Eric, just a name I use for accounts. It's actually Kurt. Okay.. So to everyone who is looking at the title and is like 'what...', hear me out. I'm performing a test theory. To start... Let me explain whats up.
Do you guys remember the original G37 coupe.. 2008? The one with that old 5AT? That transmission was actually a updated version of the 5AT from the old G's. Believe it or not, by observation, I have found a key thing. First off, the dipstick position. Lets go over to the.. Well.. 7AT.
Looking at pictures and peaking under my own car, 2010 G37 Sedan.. There's a capped hole on the passenger side of the transmission. Towards the bell housing. Has a bolt that's holding it down. It's a metal cap. That was where the old 5AT's dipstick was. So here's what I'm going to do. I bought one off of Ebay and I'm going to install it, or at least attempt to.
If this works, I think I might've broken the 4th wall or something. Or made Infiniti mad, same with Nissan. Plus I hate the whole sealed deal. I know you can change the fluid under the car.. But, I find it to be easier just to do it from the top. I hope this works. I shall keep everyone updated. Hopefully it will. The dipstick will arrive on Friday next week. And then I'll see if it'll fit. It should though. Crossing fingers!

Referring to post 7 and subsequent above, the 08 G35 dipstick seems.to fit ok on any year G37 with the 7AT.
please read through the entire thread as there are things that can go horribly wrong.
Breaking the bolt that holds the cover on the transmission is the big one and a few fitment issues that need to be considered before jumping into this.

If anyone wants to get the dipstick and tube for this at a decent price and quickly, I got mine from yoshiparts.com. Was $88 with shipping and it looks like they have some kinda 30% off coupon going now. Ordered on Jan 29 and got 2 weeks later (from Japan I believe). The bolt and washer are likely easy to get from any Nissan/Infiniti dealer. Should be a fun project to attempt in the spring
