Sorry i totally missed this post. I actually a few sets sitting here so PM me if you want one!

It's a similar-ish thing, but IMO that looks terrible and very not-stock.

Looking at this mod again I think this looks better than the OEM illuminated kick plates.
I would do this but for a couple of things...

I'm not confident in my ability to wire it up myself and paying for it doesn't seem worth it given that...
With the 25% off coupon I can get the OEM one for < $200 which should be plug-n-play??

Sticking the EL tape to the back of the laser cut pieces, does that mean that you can touch the EL tape through the cut? Is that a concern? Is water getting on it a non issue?

Well, the EL is actually laminated and has several layers covering the actual charged part. So touching it is not a concern.

It's all personal preference but i didn't like the OEM ones which is why i came up with these. On the OEM ones only a tiny little portion is actually lit up.

You can make these for well under $200. I have a few sets of the laser cut parts sitting here on my shelf, if you want to get one shoot me a PM, I also have the inverters here. Then you just need to order whatever color EL strip you want to use.

The wiring is really simple as well, you just need to run only 2 wires into the BCM.

I've received a bunch of PMs asking questions about this so I updated the OP for clarity, reworded some stuff & added photos. Hopefully it's clear now for anyone who wants to do this project.

Bumping this old thread. Having some issues installing my kick plates.

Issues posted here:

Suggestions?

EDIT: Resolved, connection was not secure on wire taps. These things look great.

I just discover the OP's project here. It's pretty darn creative, and got me thinking of it for a small winter project, in brushed aluminum SKYLINE with amber LED. I think that would look great on a MW Sedan with a Stone Interior. And "skyline" because that's how I badged my trunk.

I'd have to figure out wiring, because I don't already have the OEM sill plates, just the standard ones. But there's plenty of writeups about that, right?

Anyway, very cool stuff. More people should jump on your FS threads for this mod.

Sorry I never saw this till now.
Wiring is easy, link is here (instructions are identical) https://www.myg37.com/forums/d-i-y-i...tallation.html

Also still have a whole pile of SKYLINE and Infiniti sills in both black / brushed styles.
