About to paint my Calipers !

Hey guys I'm about to paint my calipers but I have a few questions. Mine is Sport so I got BBK .

1. I'm planning on painting them myself but what's the average price for professionals to do it ? I'm in SoCal if that helps.

2. Is DupliColor Caliper Spray paint good and durable ?

3. Will I have to sand the Caliper ? If it matters mine is 2011.

Duplicolor is good stuff. The caliper paint or the high heat stuff works good. You need to scuff it up a bit before painting but not too crazy or else the sanding lines will show through the paint. Ive asked around for a shop to paint and I was quoted around 400. But if youre not comfortable painting it yourself then have a shop do it. Not worth messing up your caliper

Before you sand, you should use a wax and grease remover to remove dust, dirt and tire silicones. If you don't clean first, you are sanding this garbage into the substrate you are about to paint.

I wouldn't put Duplicolor on a $40K car let alone and $40 lawn chair, but to each his own.

The Duplicolor stuff is pretty good. I've used it a lot over the years, most recently on the Ake's.

Those blue calipers would look so sick on a LP/IP/MW and Duplicolor is decent stuff man. I've used it before and had no problem.

For a professional to paint them would be around $150 depending on the color you chose.

I can tell you that this gentleman is probably in the collision/automotive painting field. I can tell just by his terminology. That is why he doesn't hold Duplicolor in high regard. I've never personally used it, so I can't argue either way

The problem with having a pro do it is you will be out of brakes for 1 week.....

I believe most tuner shops will have someone they work with for sandblasting and paint.

There is a shop in Monterey Park called Fast Forward Performance (a Porsche shop) that can sent your calibers out to have them done. The owner Eli has samples in the shop and he can show you the brakes on his own car. May be worth while checking it out.
