this might be why you are having problems. You should be using a random orbital buffer, I used my PC with an orange pad. You could probably get away with a green pad or maybe a white pad

Yeah I used an orange or maybe even a yellow pad. Then followed up with a white.

You're gonna have to use the buffer...don't think elbow grease is going to do the trick.

I used a random orbital buffer! He was just asking what pads I applied the product with. I have different pads for different product....but where can I get these pads? Just at the store again? I used the ones that came with my buffer.

oh ok, I thought you meant a terry cloth by hand...but even still a ROB with a terry cloth bonnet won't do the trick. You need to use an orange cutting pad or something close to that. then finish the polish with a white pad

I really don't think that would be a good idea. You could very easily end up tinting your headlights to a dangerous level. Not worth the hassle IMHO

I meant doing it gtr style, like the overlays. The black tint around the edges and side reflector and masking off the headlight/ fog light leaving those areas clear. I plan on doing my tailights this style and think it would be interesting to see if it could be done this way, for guys who don't want to hassle removing and baking the lights...

ooooo ok...I guess you could do it. Personally I think the headlights that have the covers painted/overlay'd look like poo and it really only looks great when the inside is painted, but I suppose you could do it this way. Be the first and give it a try!!

BTW.. You don't have to let it dry overnight!

I tinted my friends tail lights off a tundra.. I sanded it with a 800 grit.. Proceeded by 3-4 coats of the spray tint, 5-10 minute wait each interval.

Then proceeded by 3 coats of clear coats within 5-10 minutes..

Let it dry for 20 minutes..

Then started wet sanding it, until the surface is smoothed and sexy.

Use rubbing compound to remove the scratches and etc.

Used paste wax, looks like brand new OEM tail lights smoked.

All can be done in 2 hours!

BTW.. VHT Niteshades is way better than Rust-Oluem Tint..

I am possibly redoing mine tomorrow.. Cuhz mine look POS IMO

Nice. I'd still be careful though. Some paints can take alot longer than others to fully dry and cure. Since you are using a fairly small amount of paint on the lights though it probably doesn't take as long to dry.

How was the light output after 3-4 coats. Seems like that much would be pretty dark.

Our San Diego weather today was 84 degrees! It was pretty light actually, I was doing light coats.. It turned out, "light smoked", not dark at all..

I don't usually call them coats.. I just paint them until they are desired by me DOMO
