I got the Dupli-Color clear coat cause I figured it would be best to go with the VHT stuff...but the clear coat says that it takes 7 days to cure...is that going to be a problem?? I was planning on finishing up and do the rubbing and polish compounds tomorrow.

I found this quite easy to do once I got the light out...besides taping off the reverse light...I probably re-did it about 10 times...I'm not satisfied, lol

Yeah everything should smooth out after you finish the clear coat and wet sand.

you want the entire area you are sanding wet...I just used a spray bottle with water and a SMALL amount of soap and got the entire area wet. Make sure it stays wet while you are sanding too. It is better to be too wet than too dry (so to speak lol)

Well...I wet sanded, put them back on my car, buffed with a rubbing compound then buffed with a polishing compound and I don't quite have what you have. They are smooth but not shiny. More like a matte than anything...also when I buffed them the paint came completely off on the curves of the lights...

I followed everything exactly on here...

They were shinier at the beginning than they are now...

Mine is a random 6 inch orbital. I'm using M3 rubbing compound and Turtle Wax Polishing compound. After I saw what happened to the edges I was afraid to press any harder...Does this mean I need to start over?

That's really weird that it came off...I used my PC with an orange pad and a fairly aggressive compound and put a good 10-15 lbs of pressure on it...so I doubt it was how hard you were pressing.

I don't know, maybe it wasn't cured or something...did you let it cure overnight before compounding/polishing?
