Which I know you talked about being dirty, I was going to look at mine at my next oil change( 5500 miles ) after my SC kit was installed. Sorry for posibly being late.
You leave the engine running while cleaning the TB?

Hello All,

Well, here's another satisfied member! Many thanks to the OP for this great how-to post.....I did my TB's today (33K), and they were pretty dirty. I was having the surge/drop at idle issue.

I didn't realize what a difference this small fix could make on drivability. I used to have to worry about a surge/stall at an intersection; now that is no more. It has greatly improved the driveablity...and I actuallly want to drive the car more now....

In fact, that's where I'm headed now...

Thanks again Q8y.....

Take care,

JJ

Cleaned them this weekend as orignal poster described. When coming to a complete stop my car would stutter at around 500-600 RPM. now it idles smooth and never drops below 800 RPM. THanks!!!!!

Take it to the dealership they should be able to fix it for you, just don't mention you interferred with then throttle body. I had the same issue before and the Infiniti tech told me my car was running "too lean".

I read a bit into this thread and tried the relearning procedure but when I went to try it the problem seemed to sort itself out. :-/

Hey all,

Just an update from doing this DIY repair on my G about one month ago....

The difference is just amazing. I was dealing with a lot of difficulty with the surge and 1st gear let-out...made the G VERY difficult to drive smoothly and very prone to stalling...or over-rev when letting the clutch out. It now drives like a dream and was so worth the effort, I can't believe I waited so long to fix it.

I had no other side effect from the repair and as so many others have said...I highly recommend doing this if you have a bouncing/surging idle on your G.

This is an A+++ fix and was very easy to do.....

Thanks again...

JJ

Just cleaned mine as usual I never read till the end and removed the harness and hoses and then red that I shouldn't do it.... >.<

Anyway, it didn't change anything. Just put back everything, idle seem much responsive and stops at the right rpm's and doesn't drop lower like it used to do and then almost stall..
The most amazing it goessssss so smoothly into first and second not like before... jerk jerk

Thx for DIY

btw my car has 110k miles and I guess never been cleaned lol. lots of carb

For me I disconnect the harness but since some ppl had issues with that I figured I'd suggest they wouldn't.

As far as TB cleaner, I recommend CRC TB cleaner. Best I've tried.

If you do it correctly it should but it takes several attempts to properly do it. Otherwise you can take it to a dealer or any trusty mechanic with a Nissan Consult system and they should be able to do the relearn procedure easily.
