DIY: Easy Way to Reset ECU without battery disconnect
So why did they make it so difficult to reset the ECU if it can't really cause any issues? I'll just go with the battery route instead of potentially be annoyed a the procedure :P Setting XM radio stations takes 2 mins..
Disconnecting the battery does mess with your windows. After installing grounding wires, you need to follow the process below in order to get your windows back to normal functionality.
To perform a window reset:
1. Push the ignition switch to the ON position.
2. Close the door.
3. Open the window more than halfway by operating the power window switch.
4. Pull the power window switch and hold it to close the window, and then hold the switch more than 3 seconds after the window is
closed completely.
5. Release the power window switch. Operate the window by the automatic function to confirm the initialization is complete.
6. Perform steps 2 through 5 above for other windows.
Just follow the directions for the ECU reset... very simple. In my experience, the parking brake does not need to be on, and the radio does not need to be off, though it doesn't hurt I guess. I personally used the song clock as my stop watch.

got this to work thismorning after realizing you needed to add the times up for it to work. thanks for the DIY!
this is what i did (was a little confused by the previous posts)
time (s)
0-3 nothing
3-8 pump 5 times
8-15 nothing
15-25 hold down untill flashing starts, release and re apply
25-35 hold down. done when it starts flashing quickly.

hi guys..
i just install the injen intake yesterday, without taking out the battery. Thought i would give it a try without and see how it goes..
but now, the engine light's on. Do i just follow the DIY on this thread to work on resetting the ECU??
Or can i just take out the battery and put it back on??
or worse case, i have to take it back to the dealer??
Thanks!!

if your engine light is on, then you mighta messed up the air sensors. make sure there plugged in properly. follow the DIY and see what happens, it only takes 30 seconds (literally)
for some reason i couldnt get past the slow flashing stage, so i just disconeect the battery and pump the breaks a few times. Gotta reset windows but that takes 10 seconds
I did this for the first time last night. It worked with the instructions provided, but look at the first two or three pages in the this thread. There was a helpful reply about "prepping" for the reset. Two nights ago, i tried for about 20 minutes. Never got close. Came back to the thread and found a piece that talked about things to do first.
I would highly recommend having a stop watch or something to watch the seconds. You are supposed to have the engine at warmed up temperature. Have the parking brake on. Turn off everything else (air, lights, radio, etc).
After I did that, I had no problems resetting the ECU. Took one try.

i just did this today, took 4 tries but then it worked. i'll try and drive a bit more aggresively to "reprogram" the ecu. i've been having a flat spot down low in the rpm band.
