Rear differential

Hey all, newbie here. Just bought a 13' G37XS coupe with 70k miles on it last week. Went through a car wash, and afterward noticed the little license plate lights just hanging down by their wires. Must have ripped out the bracket. This is now the least of my concerns after I got under the car to try and put them back, I noticed the common leak I read about... the rear diff bushing. Also, you can see in the picture i attached, half of the pumpkin looks alot newer/less rusted than the rest of the car. Is this normal? Also, I've read mixed opinions whether or not the bushing leak is an ASAP type of repair. Will ignoring this damage anything further? I'm a huge G fanatic and now that I have one I want to take care of it as well as my wallet will allow. But 2 g's to fix this knowing that it may fail again scares me. Especially considering most of the exhaust system is very very rusted and I plan on replacing all of it with the Invidia Gemini. Any help is appreciated. Sorry if I posted in the wrong place. Thanks!

Just looks like a new differential cover maybe? And about the bushing leak, it shouldn’t lead to any bigger problems but if you can get it replaced, that would be a good choice. The bushing may cause the car to squat a lot when accelerating but I think that’s it.

The cast iron corrodes much quicker than the aluminium diff cover. It is normal and nothing to worry about.

Many have done this $20 diff bushing fix:

The ruptured diff bushing will not cause the car to squat more. Since our cars have independent suspension, the diff movement is independent from the suspension movement.

Also, the bracket that holds the plate lights is made from thin metal and most are corroded so much they are paper thin.

Thanks sonicvq. Think I'm going to try that repair. As far as the light bracket, it is indeed rusted to ****, paper thin and corroded. I thought there was maybe a plastic bracket that attached to it that held the lights in place. Any idea what I could do to get them back in place? I tried getting them to fit back into place but rust was falling off and I was scared to break the damn thing so I just kind of wedged the lights up in there just so they wouldn't dangle.

Loctite makes a rust stabilizer that neutralizes rust and lets you paint over it.
