For frayed thread you quickly run a lighter over the stitching. It will melt the tiny thread frays and not do any harm to the rest.

I got the same kit off of Amazon. It fit good everywhere except where your thumbs rest at the 3 and 9 o clock position. It was a bit loose there no matter how tight I would stitch it. Did you have this problem too? your's looks a little loose?

I choose Amazon because I have prime and I got it in two days ... Like I said earlier.. It's the Chinese New Year so their shipping is severely delayed

Yes, this is a problem with this kit. You will most likely have loose thumb rests unless you stitch it perfectly or have some other resolution. Here is the steering wheel I just finished, not loose at all...

So it was loose at 9 and 3, but then I stitched like ryne did to pull it tight. Now it's tight only problem I have now is the housing around needs to be tightend down because the leather is pushing it out a bit and rubbing on the steering colum .. Minor anouance, but will drive me nuts soon. Also can't get the dang steering wheel centered again .. Frustrating

All you need to do is line up the notch on the steering wheel with the notch on the steering wheel column.

Are you talking about the knotch in the bolt? I guess I never saw a knotch on the actual steering wheel
Edit: I see it now from your picture above

Looks awesome. Did you:
1. Wax the thread?
2. Pre-stretch the thread?
3. Use the pattern in the kit?
Thanks!

Did you remove the wheel, or do it on the car?
I still haven't gotten around to doing mine yet..

took the wheel off. it'll be hard to do it nice with the wheel on honestly, especially the back part if you can't see it.
