Cleaning Seatbelts
Cleaning Seatbelts
Hello,
My driver's side seatbelt has stains all over it. I guess whomever owned my G37 before me drove it frequently with dirty hands.
Does anyone have any advice on the best way to clean to clean the seatbelts without compromising them?
Thanks,
Willie

It's probably make-up. My daughter spreads this stuff all over the house and swears she washes her hands constantly. In the past, I've used "Spot Shot" and it works pretty well.
Beware that someone will probably chime in from the master detailers club and say they would never allow this stuff inside of a car, but I have used it for years to clean seatbelts (3 kids) and it works great.
Simply drape a clean rag over your hand and then grasp the seatbelt in the soiled region, lightly spray the area then close your hand and rub the solution in. You will see the stains disappear.
It also works really well on stubborn stains in light colored carpets. Resolve is another product, but it's not nearly as effective as Spot Shot.

+1 for steam. You'll know who they were if you use it because of smell. GROSS.
Go to home depot, buy some Folex. It's in the cleaning section. White bottle purple label.
Pull the belt all the way to where you see the dirt stop. Put a clamp on it to keep it from retracting. Grab the folex and murder the belt. Take a fairly stiff brush and really work it. Both sides. Now take a clean towel and wipe the rest off.
Rinse repeat until its clean.
