Zaino products

I'm pickin gup my G today and started thinking about how I'm going to care for it and what products to use. Many years ago I used Zaino prducts on a previous car and loved it. Car always looked great. I looked at their website today and wow is it confusing. They have so many options, too many options and it just turned me off. I'm looking for something easier.

I don't have a show car. I just want it to look good. What are some easily obtainable products that aren't all complicated like Zaino? Preferably something that I can buy locally.

Thanks,

You should be able to find Meguiar's and 3M products locally at auto parts stores or paint/body shops. Both are pretty nice off-the-shelf options. As with anything else car related, people definitely have their favorite products, but you need to try stuff and see what works for you.

A clay bar, a nice wash soap, and a sealant and/or carnuba wax should do you good and get you started. If the car needs any paint correction, you'll need to look into some polishing compounds. One place to not skimp is with drying. Get really nice microfiber or 100% cotton terry cloth towels.

I don't use the complete Zaino system. I put 1 coat of AIO followed by 1 coat of Z2 polish. YOu can do 2 coats if you want. I get good results. For interior, I clean with zaino leather cleaner, then finish off with their leather in a bottle.

check out detailed image. They have a huge selection but very good descriptions and articles to help narrow the field. I'd recommend starting with a cutting polish and a finishing polish like Meguiar's 105 and Meguiar's 205. 205 is applicable by hand without the need for a buffer. For hand application, you could also try a glaze or sealant. I love Chemical Guys Glaze.

Good luck!

BIG Zaino fan. I have most of the stuff but you can easily get away with the AIO and Z-2 for the exterior, just as sniper said.

thanks for the info

as far as drying goes are microfiber towels better than those synthetic drying towels. you know the ones that come in the clear tubes that you wet, squeeze out, dry your car, store it damp. some of them dry out when stored. microfiber better than those to dry?

as far as zaino goes would i ise it in this order:
wash with dawn
clay bar
AIO
Z2?

I don't have experience with that kind of drying towel. I use exclusively microfiber on my paint. These waffle weave drying towels work excellent!

Get the real chamois if you prefer that type. Don't get that synthetic rubbery stuff.

As far as Zaino, yes, that order would be just fine.

Ditto. I've got the ZFX to quicken the process but I'm not sure if that is necessary or not.

High quality Microfiber: Microfiber Madness from Car-Pro, also the incredimitt is a great wash mitt.

Good Price: Microfibertech, minimum 530 gsm. Get a good variety.

Compound/Polish: maybe Meguiars Ultimate compound and M205 (or Ultimate Polish) might be easier to work with. M105 has a learning curve, works great once you get the hang of it.

Sealant/Coating: want easy, check Hydro2 or for a coating I like Detailers Pro Coating, easy to use.

Wax: So many to choose, easy wipe on wipe off is Blackfire Midnight Sun

Clay: get fine grade Nanoskin Autoscrub wash mitt

do you really need to clay bar a new vehicle?

consider getting a lambs wool mitt for washing, I think those are the best.

Dude- you DO use dish detergent to take off the previous wax/polish when you're applying a new brand.

As for clay bar and a new car- you'd be surprised all of the "stuff" you pull off a "new" car!

You can use IPA or one of the many prep/strip products out there (LimePrime, p21s, etc.) to remove old product. Dawn is ok for doing the same, but I wouldn't use it on a regular basis.

The Dawn use is a one time thing prior to clay barring the car then using Zaino.
