Just signed on a G37X... being upsold on leather protection... advice?

Hi all,

Just signed on a gorgeous G37X that I will hopefully pick up tomorrow. The dealer was strongly urging the leather interior protection. I forgot exactly what it was called, but it went for $289 and came with a 5 year warranty. The interior is beige, so I realize it will need more upkeep than a black interior. I purchased the car, so I intend to take better care of it than say a leased vehicle.

Questions-
1. Has anyone gotten this? Was it a gimmick or does it protect better than aftermarket protection?
2. If the coat itself is a gimmick, is it worth the price for the warranty alone?
3. Does it add sheen? The dealer said it does add a level of sheen/shine to the leather/vynil/plastic parts. I'm not crazy about this. I can't stand the 'black tire magic' look on interior parts.

I figured this subforum was the best place to post this.

Thanks everyone.

Welcome to the forum. Skip it altogether. Like most dealer add ons, it's high profit for them and little value for you. Have you ever taken any car back within 5 years because of the leather seats?

Save yourself $220 bucks an buy this leather care package from DI.

But really, BB is right most of that dealer add on stuff is just to make money off of. If you take care of the leather you wont have any problems.
