Ouch - rubbing compound on a black car hurts. I know it's too late now, but you rarely ever want to use a rubbing compound. If you can't catch your fingernail on a scratch you're good - meaning you should be able to get most of it out. You can either get a good detailer and if they know what they're doing, they should be able to remedy most of it (if they are just swirls/clearcoat scratches). If you want to do it yourself it's gonna take a buffer (I use a Porter Cable 7424 and it works great) and good quality pads. There's more detail involved if you decide to do it yourself - let me know and I'll walk you through it. The good news is there's usually hope for improvement unless it's a major scratch.

if you have the self-healing paint wait it out and let it do it's job... other than that you'll have to buff it

If you're doing this by hand, you probably won't have very satisfactory results. It's not possible to get top notch results in paint correction by hand no matter how good the products you use are. You need to get a PC and a yellow or orange pad and use a cutting polish. Follow this up with a white pad and a finishing polish. After you've polished out the scratches, you want to protect your finish with a sealant and/or wax. Learning how to properly wash and dry your car is essential too to keep it from happening again.

Also, check out the wealth of information on the Ask a Professional Detailer thread.

I can't feel the scratch. It seems like it's clearcoat scratch. Think of swirl marks. I was thinking about Nu Finish or other scratch remover and trying it out. Any good products out there?

Do you recommend any of this?

1. Meguiar's Direct Swirl Remover
2. Turtle Wax / 10.5 oz. Scratch Remover and Polishing Paste Compound
3. Nu-Finish NFS-05 Scratch Doctor. 6.5 oz. liquid
4. Meguiar's G10307 ScratchX

I have used #3 and #4 in a spot, but that was before I gave up and went with PC plus some quality products. If you got swirls all over the car, go couple threads up and take Black Betty's advise. If not, then just give up, take it through the car wash, drive it and give up on getting rid of the swirls.
