I find that glass cleaning is primarily in the application process. I tend to use 3 towels when cleaning glass. 1 all purpose microfiber towel to apply, 1 all purpose towel to remove, then 1 glass specific microfiber towel to give it a streak free finish. When removing product, wipe slowly and apply some light pressure.

Another tip is to do your final wipes on your interior all in one direction, say left to right, and to do your exterior final wipe in the opposite direction, up and down. This way if you do see streaks, you can quickly identify where they are on your glass.

Hope this helps.

Glass cleaner for tints depends on whether you can use amonia cleaners on your tints. Check with your tinter or the tint manufacturer. I know with SolarGard you CANNOT use amonia cleaners, but with 3M you can.

I got this in my regular newsletter from Classic Motoring Accessories. It looks like a very promising cleaner. Eimann Fabrik Clear Vision II Glass Cleaner
100% VOC Free, Clear Vision II is the highest technology glass cleaner you can buy!
Product Review by Terry Freiberg

If you're having trouble cleaning glass, you're not alone. On January 1st, 2005, the federal government adopted a 4% VOC limit for pump and trigger spray glass cleaners. This legislation took hundreds of glass cleaners off the market including our popular, Eimann Fabrik Clear Vision. Clear Vision contained 12 to 15% isopropyl alcohol to cut through tough, oily road grime and still wipe streak free. If we reduced the alcohol content to 4%, it wouldn't work any better than any other glass cleaner. We had no option but to take Clear Vision off the market.

We immediately started to search for a "stronger" glass cleaner but every avenue was a dead end. Every glass cleaner manufacturer and chemist we spoke with told us the same thing, "There's no way to make a really effective glass cleaner, one strong enough to cut oily, road grime, and still meet the government's 4% VOC limit." We gave up looking.

In the summer of 2005, one of our customers, Frank D. in Barrington. N.J., contacted us. Frank is employed by a biotechnology research company that works on everything from increasing the effectiveness of topographically applied anesthetics to increasing the mortality of chickens! One of the products his company developed was a 100% VOC free glass cleaner for the hospital and food service industry. This cleaner is hypoallergenic, eye safe, pet safe, plant safe, and child safe. It is totally nontoxic to living organisms and has no environmental impact. You could pour it in your garden! Sounding too good to be true, we requested a sample for evaluation.

When the sample arrived, Jan, Jon, Phil and I rushed out to our parking lot and cleaned our car's windshields in the hot, Florida sun. We did the inside and outside glass. To say we were dumb-founded would be an understatement. Rarely do the four of us agree on a product but this glass cleaner was unbelievable! It was easily as good as or better than our alcohol-laden Clear Vision yet it contained no alcohols, no mineral spirits, no lye, no dyes and no ammonia. The next morning, driving into the sun, confirmed our opinions. There was virtually no evidence of smearing or streaking. Our windshields were just sparkling clear!

I immediately called Frank and asked the inevitable question, "What's in this stuff?" Twenty minutes of frantic note taking later, I have to tell you, I still don't know! Frank told me they looked at the problem with a clean sheet of paper and used a process called sequestration with nano scrubbers that electro-chemically creates a 'bag' around grime and oil molecules allowing them to be suspended in an emulsion and easily wiped away. OK, I don't have a clue what that means but I know it does work and it's totally safe. If you're looking for a new glass cleaner or have an application for a glass or plastic cleaner that must be totally non-toxic, try this cleaner. We call it Clear Vision II Glass Cleaner in honor of our previous glass cleaner and offer it in our Eimann Fabrik line.

Clear Vision II also works on plastic windshields including vinyl covered windscreens offered by Harley Davidson and all aftermarket window tint films.
