How to get rid of Minor swirlies?

There are a few around the vehicle that i'd like to get out. Do i just use a proper sealant? I have a blue slate car, which would you suggest is the most durable sealant out there?

Sealants are merely for protection and will not remove ANY swirls, minor scratches, or marring. You'll need a polish if you want to remove your swirl marks. The best way to remove them is by a machine like a Porter Cable. Some people try and remove them by hand using a product like Meg's ScratchX.

As for a good sealant, Poorboys EX-P, Zaino Z2/Z5, and Menzerna's FMJ are all great sealants.

Ok, if i don't use Meg's ScratchX, and I use a porter cable, which polish would you recommend? And I'd do that before the sealant when i wash my car ya? (Sorry, new to this detailing stuff!) Also, is there a way you can "overuse" the polish and ruin the clear coat paint?

I really depends. The polish you choose will be based on how severe your paint condition is and how hard/soft the paint is. I've used a number of different polishes, and my absolute favorite is Menzerna's 0106FF. This will provide you with light to medium cutting ability and it finishes beautifully.

The detailing steps should be in this order.

1. Wash/dry your car
2. Claybar the paint to remove surface contamination (recommended)
3. Polish with Porter Cable
4. Apply sealant for protection
5. Apply Carnuba wax for added depth and gloss (optional)

I apply all of my polishes and sealants with the PC and the Carnubas by hand.

+1 , the primary benefit of using the buffer is to apply polishes. I usually will apply glazes and sealants with the buffer as well, but at much slower speeds and little to no pressure. I always apply paste waxes by hand.

Yep, sorry I didn't specify more clearly in my above post.

I usually work any polishes at speed setting 5 or 6. For glazes, sealants or waxes, I work it between 3 ~ 4.5.
