What products/brands do YOU recommend for detailing/washing?

My Black G37 needs some serious care. I live in San Francisco where the ocean is in view and fog is almost a daily thing for me, not to mention all the dust. So my baby is taking a beating. Since i'm new to this and this is my very first car, I need to know what should I buy to keep my car looking new.

I need everything from washing mits, towels, soup, wax, clay, and everything else. I've been hearing a lot about Zainos but I'd just like to know what else is out there. Preferably something that would include everything I need into one big package. So what do you guys recommend?

i was in the same boat with my black g37. after reading around for a while and listening to others talk about how they clean their cars i decided to buy a car care kit to basically handhold me through the process. Zaino is mighty popular these days with the car detail crowd so i ordered the ultimate zaino kit which should arrive today or tommorow. Others swear by their products so you might appreciate what that kit offers.

Here are some things that I would say are a must.

100% sheepskin mitt
2 wash buckets with gritguard
at least 6 MF towels
at least 2 dehydrating towels
good quality auto shampoo
claybar
sealant
wax
Quick detailer

And if you really want to keep your G looking like new, invest in a Porter Cable, pads, and a good polish. If you decide to do this, I can recommend some good polish for you.

I didn't bother getting into specific brands just because everyone has their own preferences. I personally use Poorboys and Zaino sealants along with Natty's Blue and OCW for my carnubas. George at www.detailedimage.com offers all of the things you need (except for Zaino products), and is a pleasure to deal with.

Good luck.

I use Meguiars products and have been very satisfied. I have never tried the Zaino's or other super high end products, but i do know Meguiars has treated my cars well over the years.

Good luck, www.meguiars.com
