Question Lexol Leather Dressing

Hi George. I was just wondering about Lexol dressing? I never hear anybody talk about it and I am not sure what it does? I bought it and have used it once, in tandem with the cleaner and conditioner, and have no idea what it does? Their site doesn't really say anything. I was going to ask you about it before my next leather session. I was reminded of this as I sat in my lazy boy reading car magazines today (I LOVE Sundays!). While Lexol certainly has ads for the cleaner/conditioner combo in current magazines they don't say a peep about the dressing.

Thanks for any enlightenment!

Hope you don't mind me responding, but I use 303 Cleaner & Spot Remover for issues like this with my customers all the time with success. It does a great job and seems to get things that standard spot removers don't.

Great for around the house as well!

No don't mind at all! but are there anyother substitution where I can pick up at a local auto store? I would like to get it clean ASAP rather than wait for it to get delivered.

OTC you can try any carpet cleaner. I use a OxiClean stuff or Resolve. Just make sure to test it. Most of the time, with any carpet cleaner, you're bound to clean that particular area better than the rest of the mat. So the stain will come out, but you'll be left with a super clean spot on a dirty mat. So you just need to compensate...

Hey Shane, are you talking about the Neatsfoot dressing? I am not 100% positive, but I think it's more of a maintenance product between cleaning and conditioning. I haven't heard much about it (good or bad) so if you do end up using it, keep us posted on what you think.

Another good option locally is Folex. Good suggestion on testing first, you want to do this with just about any product for that matter.

Thanks for the reply. I did use it but I am not sure why? The Lexol cleaner did a great job of cleaning and the conditioner does a great job of protecting and conditioning. Not sure what I accomplished by using the dressing.

I'd think of it as a quick detailer for your leather. Good for the times you don't use the cleaner or conditioner but want to freshen up the leather. Aside from that, I'm not sure it's purpose either

Best thing is to stay on top of the cleaning with soap and water. You want to avoid using chemicals on anodized surfaces if possible. You could protect them and brighten the surface a little by using Poorboy's Wheel Sealant, then follow up the maintenance with automotive shampoo and water.

I did just ask this on the blog of the detailed image page, but maybe fellow G37 owners would like to know the answer here.

I love claying my car. It feels so sexy when you clay and wax. Also the clay removes contaminants that you might end up rubbing into the paint if you where to just wax over the top of them.

Let me put this on the most extreme side. I like to wax the car at least once a month. Is it bad to clay it every time I wax? Make the assumption that I am lubing the clay a proper amount so I do not mar the paint.

Chances are if you properly take care of your car with regular thorough washings, you won't need to clay every time. Using the clay bar will help you strip off the previous coat of protection and provide the best base for the new coat to be applied. The problem comes in if you clay too much, then you're sure to add some marring in the paint no matter how much lube or careful you are and inevitably it will lead to a long polishing session to remove. You may not notice the marring right away and without proper lighting, but with soft Infiniti paint, I can assure that to some degree there will be some left behind (which the wax may cover up temporarily depending on the wax).

Hope this helps.

I just have a quick question about using Jetseal 109.

I'm gonna be applying it by hand and was wondering if I should/need to tape off the trim and such.

You should be fine without taping the trim. If you happen to get some on the trim, keep a bottle of quick detailer and a towel near by so you can wipe if off immediately. It won't hurt the trim in the short term, but if you were to leave it on there for a long time without removing it, just about any product could stain trim.

Keep us posted on what you think of Jet Seal after you get a chance to detail the car.
