Vancouverites - snow tires for g37x?

Hey I'm looking for suggestions on winter rims and tires for a 2010 g37x. I've read a bunch of forum posts but not sure what I should choose for our typically balmy winters. I may take it up to the mountain a few times hence I'd rather not use my OEM all seasons

I can probably live without TPMS and will likely head to Bellingham to pick them up (discount tire)

To save some $$ would it be ok if I just used the same rims? What about minus sizing to 17" ?

Here is an idea! See if anyone on here wants to sell their spare tires, then just stick some x-ice tires on them! They are 18's and they are full size! So you could prob put on 245's all around.

I have had x-ice tires on every car I have owned, that is after trying a few others, and I found they they last at least 4 years, even if I am doing a lot of driving! (oh and I usually have them on from Nov to March)

Anyways that's my 2 cents

Keep an eye out on craigslist. I picked up a pair of tires only for pretty cheap last year and they make a huge difference. I was on the coquihalla last weekend and man were the tires great!

Or look on tirerack for tires/wheels combo

Your spare tire is 18" full size? Mine is so small it's like those donut size spare tires from the 1990s.

Thanks guys, would discount tire pricematch with tire rack? I'd rather not have to pay for shipping.

Could of sworn I posted this already, but I think the Sport Models all come with full size tires for spares.

^ yes, but you have to match Tire Rack's SHIPPED price to Bellingham, not just the tire cost. this way you are comparing apples to apples. i saved another $100 last year at DT since they matched the shipped TR price.

i was just down there last friday getting another set of winters on a friend's car. he saved $450 from buying locally. i saved $550 last year for my Honda CRV all-seasons...

There's shops in Vancouver that will pricematch Tire Rack's prices, maybe even little better.

^^ hey benseen - care to share your local tire shop contacts? PM me if you don't want to make it public. i thought i'd tried all the shops around, and nobody could come close to Tire Rack pricing.
