Looking to buy 2011 G37

Hey guys, I am looking to buy 2011 G37 and wondering anything I should look out for? Just quick car history, I used to drive 06 G35 sedan, 2010 G37S, 2009 M35, 2004 FX35, and 06 350Z. Thanks in advance.

Typical repairs on this car... oil gallery gasket, rear differential bushing, clutch slave cylinder (on the 6MT). Otherwise, it's a pretty solid car that easily goes north of 100k miles with simple maintenance.

All these things are discussed ad nauseam throughout the forum. Welcome to the site.

As Rochester summarized, these are great cars that will last a very long time. Just make sure you get an example that is well maintained and not clapped out. The biggest issue in my book is the gallery gasket, $1500-2000 you will be back on the road and the engine will outlast the body.

It's the GALLEY Gasket isn't it?

I have an older '03 Nismo that needs some work, transmission, a little rust around wheel wells and it may just be time to put that underground and get this 2011 G37x S

Nobody seems to think this is a good idea except for me. Attached is what I'm looking at

2011 G37x S
170KM
Already Safetied
$10,000

My old man isn't digging it!

Anyhow - I was 95% sure I was going to buy this 2011 but this potential gasket issue concerns me. I’ve been reading it’s common but also kind of who knows wait and see but 170KM is about when you may start seeing this below:

https://www.myg37.com/forums/engine-...vitable-3.html

I may keep looking - I’m having 2nd thoughts now.

i dont want gasket issues popping up - part of the point of buying a G is reliability and I am concerned about this being a potential problem. Would be brutal - $10K is a good chunk of change.

i drove my 03’ this morning and really like it but i dont want it to be a money pit and already put $2500 total into it after safetying , control arms, alternator

rust is also a concern on wheel wells. Not sure about structurally - perhaps I should take to body shop before making an ill-advised purchase on a 10 year old G with potential gasket/oil pressure challenges.

gonna hold off for now - the records are all clear, no accidents or major service. It’s all there and he has treated it so well and it is mint/clean. Not ready to buy tomorrow though

May take the old girl to the shop then body shop tomorrow - get it detailed and drive it through the winter. So indecisive about this bc I love the ol girl.

Thanks for the welcome!

Curious why you're specifically interested in the 2011 model year? Funny enough that's the model year I had

They’re great cars

I have a 2012 g37x and love it. 145000 and still runs great. Starting to have some things go but I’ve been good on maintenance and repairs. I’ll miss that car when I get a new one. Not sure what yet but eventually I’ll want to
