Oh that is a sweet deal! If the 26k is starting you can negotiate this down to 24 or something. With taxes and what not you will be paying 26k OTD.

Why is the coupe more expensive than the Sedan?

 

I think we're paying a premium for style/looks. It certainly is very impractical with a nearly unusable back seat and smallish trunk. The only sedan I am considering would be a limited S which is the sportiest looking of the bunch. It's surprising the large premium coupes are fetching over sedans.

 

MattR82 - I am going with the IPL, had it inspected by an independent Infiniti specialist shop and they ok'd it, the dealer fixed the stuff I wanted, Drove the auto and the stick, actually I didn't find the auto to be a bad option but the stick is a definitely a lot more fun. If I was living in a heavy traffic area, then I would have gone with an auto.

So I think I have done all the due diligence that should be done, the exterior is spotless, interior is clean, inspection got a thumbs up, I am ok with the OTD price. I mulled over the decision quite a bit, but I am satisfied that I am not making an impulsive decision. Plus the help on this forum from y'all has been priceless !!! Thanks !!!

That price seems suspiciously low to me, I am assuming it is not at an Infiniti dealer. Be sure you check the carfax/autocheck and have a trustworthy mechanic look the car over. Also, there is expensive maintenance due at 30k that is likely not done, so budget accordingly or negotiate that into the deal.

If the factory Yokohama tires have not been replaced, they will be shot. Brakes will likely need at least pads and a resurface.

I'm not saying you are guaranteed to have thousands of service due at 30k, but you definitely will need to be prepared to service the car. If you do need tires it will easily be over $1k.

 

The Stealership is expensive...Why not just buy the fluids/parts take it to a shop and have them do it piece by piece to save money?

You can buy tires for less than the dealership will quote you then replace

 

There is definitely money to be saved if you DIY, but I still think you would be in the $1k neighborhood if tires are needed.


I did a search on Discount Tire and found the cheapest tires you could mount on the wheels and it came out to $820 out the door, and that's without any extras (TPMS rebuild, certificates, etc.) Like I said, it is definitely not guaranteed, but something that should be considered BEFORE buying a car. I could easily see a worst case scenario where the car needs over $1k in maintenance, something you don't want to realize you don't have after you buy the car.

 

Yes you are correct, its not an infiniti dealer but a toyota dealership. I checked carfax it is clean and it showed a recommended maintenance completed at 31k miles. car was sold as certified pre-owned at 21k miles.

 

Well it sounds like you've done your homework on the car. If it is a well maintained car without any accidents I would say that is quite the deal.

On a side note: I always wonder the reason why someone trades in a car. Seems odd the person bought the car CPO at 21k and then traded it in @ 31k to a Toyota dealership. I'm sure they just needed a larger/more economical car, but that always intrigues me. /tangent
