Bought a G37xS but now a problem with my trade in

I bought a 2010 G37xS sedan this past Friday, but have been holding out on writing my first post on here until I had physical possession of the car (they're waiting for my check to clear).

Anyway, I'm writing this because I'll also be trading in my current driver when I go pick up my G either today or tomorrow. Problem is, my windshield cracked this morning when a small rock hit it on the interstate

The impact area does look like a small rock hit it, but the crack created a 3 foot long line on the windshield It's at the bottom of the windshield so it's not terribly visible (realistically, anyone with half a brain will spot it) but I'm hoping the dealership maybe overlooks it when I pick up my car since they already inspected it on Friday.

Anyone have any advice on how I should handle this? Should I play stupid if the dealer asks about it and claim it has been there for over a month?

Don't ask, don't tell. If they notice it they'll probably deduct the cost of a new windshield from whatever trade value was quoted. If they don't, don't worry about it.

The dealer will take it...and fix up anything abnormal on the car that they need to. They have a team in house to do that.
Don't worry about it

you'll be fine, they deal with it all the time-a friend of mine traded in a Chrysler van with a transmission that lost most of its 3 gears once.

Congrads on the G37 and welcome to the club!

Be up front with the dealer about the cracked windshield. Ask them how they would like to handle it. Your insurance would probably cover a new windshield but I would not offer that info. right off the bat.

Once the trade in is done, if they notice it afterwards, are you still liable for damage like that? I'm not familiar with the way a lease works.

As always, it would depend on the fine print. However, trade-ins are typically "as is" so the dealer would have to eat any costs that it doesn't pass on via the originally negotiated trade in value. Honestly, they're not likely to care that much. They can either replace it in house for just the cost of parts or auction it off along with the rest of their undesirable trade intake and see if anyone else notices.

Your insurance should cover without any cost to you.
