Transferring cars between dealerships

I live in New Orleans and am looking for a new 2013 G convertible in graphite shadow. They don't have any more at the local dealership, but they do have some in Houston. Are they able to transfer between dealerships? Oh, and I am eligible for VPP pricing, so will that have an effect?

Thanks,

JB

Yes they can transfer it but they may charge you a fee. since it's so close, did you consider flying or taking the train over and driving it home? It's only about 350 miles.

Don't know about the VPP pricing.

I agree that the drive between Houston and NO in a new vert may actually be pretty enjoyable this time of year.

Buy it before September 6 and I'll drive it over and deliver it to you. I'm coming to the Saints opener that weekend.

True story.

Yea man we transport all the time. If VPP, you might be on the hook for most of the price of transport. Reason I say this is because VPP doesn't net the dealer much $$ that they can divert to cover the expense of the transport but some times it does. I have a white on wheat with maple if your interested but I'm in nebraska. How ever we need it gone before snow hits!! Or a black on black sport too.

Yeah...I have thought about just flying over and driving back, but that adds on about another $500 to the total and also puts on 350 miles...but it would be a convertible drive...I'll know more next month. (I am waiting to see if there are any additional VPP incentives in September)

My offer stands to drive it over for free if you get it before weekend after next. No hoonage, just a straight easy drive down I-10.

And you should be able to find a one way flight MSY-IAH for half that I would think.

Thanks for the info...As soon as I see the newest VPP incentives for September, I am going to offload my 07 Camry and then get a hold of the Houston area dealerships and see what I can do...

And yes, my pricing was for roundtrip airfair, so it should be about half for one way...

I don't think incentives will change. Lets just say I can see into the future. I would take by up on his offer tho.

Thanks elJoker...I will assume you know what you are talking about. I will start trying to purchase my new vert this week since the VPP incentives aren't going to change...

My dealer in st louis (plaza) trucked mine from naperville to stl and wew found a paint defect so they went back and got another from glencoe on the north side of chicago and brought it back.., Both times no charge. Our 3rd car from them so they are pretty accommodating these days.,

Before I bought my '11 used my dealer was trying to work a deal for me on a new '13 6MT they found at a dealership in Arizona. When you really push it and work through the deal, you are paying for shipping. Either directly or they have to reserve for this amount in their negotiations. They have to, it's part of their cost.

One exception is groups like CarMax. They ship regularly between their sites and seem to be able to do it for about half the cost of dealers that use an independent transport company.

It cost me $750 to ship my '11 from San Jose to my house. Just be aware of the sales tax situation for the two states if you choose to fly out or have BB drive it for you.

There is no sales tax diffrence since you only pay tax in the state you license it in. But other than that, yes it's usally in the deal some where.
