Buying used 2008 g37 sport

I found a deal through a BMW dealer for a 2008 infiniti g37 sport with 30,900 miles. The car is listed at $22,400. Its a 6 speed manual transmission car. What do you guys think of this deal? I don't know if I should go with a g37 and spend around 20 K or go with a older g35 and spend around 10-12 K. Also, someone told me with 2008 sport models, the manual transmission tend to fail in about 50% of the cars around 35-40K? Is this true? Any 2008 owners? Please let me know.

I'm a 2008 G37S coupe 6MT owner. Bought in November 2007 and now I have just over 85k miles. Never had any transmission issues. The closest related problem is that once in a blue moon my clutch will feel super loose on startup, but it usually goes away after driving for a few minutes. I know a more common problem involves the clutch and the master/slave cylinder going bad.

My biggest issue with this car has been my battery, which I've had to replace twice within like 50k miles. One was covered under warranty, the other was not (for some stupid reason). They gave me an M battery for #3 and so far it has held up just fine.

I have an 08 but it's automatic (boo yeh whatever) and I have around 63k miles and the only problem is my cat converter was bad so it was replaced (still under warranty). That's about it for me. 30k miles for $22k sounds good to me. (not an expert though!)

08 G37s here as well with just under 41k. Not really an issue but shifting with a cold tranny could be slightly "notchy". Once it warms up it's a lot less noticeable, but I have yet to change the MTF which I'll be doing this weekend (Service manual recommends MTF change at 30k). Pretty sure once that's done it'll be very smooth again.

I am the original owner of my 08g37s. Biggest problem for me was the crappy exhaust. (started to rattle) I replaced it w a FI exhaust. My steering wheel got scratched. I finally had that fixed this week. Tires are expensive and dont laat very long. I am chapped that I can't stream music. I had the battery fixed under warranty. That about it in terms of problems. I will drive it forever.

I have never heard anything approaching the failure rate you mentioned.

Fair or not, I have not been impressed w the dealership. However, I love the independent performance shop I have been going to for the last year or so. A good shop has made a lot of difference in how much I like the car. And they have done some nice upgrades for me.
