2008 G37s coupe 6mt CPO (10k miles). $32k. Good or bad deal?
2008 G37s coupe 6mt CPO fully loaded (10k miles). $32k. Good or bad deal?
Hi all. I was offered a deal of 2008 G37s coupe 6mt from Fette Infiniti (see http://tinyurl.com/3bqbqsk). It has 10k miles from one-owner, navigation, backup camera, sun roof, and new Bridgestone Potenza tires. Clean one owner history. Also very low cosmetic issues.
The dealer said, to get a certification I should pay additional $899 on top of the price as advertised, so it'll be $31,999 + $899 before tax, etc. I talked to the manager and got it down to $31,999 with CPO.
Offered them $31k and told them I will purchase it today. They seemed they are pretty firm on the price. Basically I was told to go somewhere else and get a similar vehicle for whatever other dealers may offer. They know there aren't many g37s 6mts out there in New England/NY/NJ.
Would this be a fair deal? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

It's low mileage, but $31K is waaaaaay too much. I just sold my 08 6MT coupe with 29K miles (I live in NY) for $27K. Fully loaded + it had technology package, illuminated door sills and the rear OEM spoiler which this one doesn't have (also this one has the grey interior color which many people don't prefer & makes it harder to sell). Keep in mind you also gotta pay tax on the full $31K compared to a "tax-break" (
) when buying from a private seller. And that $899 is bullsh*t just like the usual dealer fee, bank fee, prep fee, etc... CPO is another marketing scam because there is absolutely no way a dealer knows how the previous owner took care of the car prior to giving it in... You can buy an "Infiniti Elite Extended Warranty" and it will still cost you less money than buying this "CPO" car from the dealer. Don't be in a hurry, shop around and try to buy from a private seller. I KNOW there are better deals out there...
**rant over**
The price is really not an issue for me(although you can get it for around30k I feel which is fair) my issue is that it is advertised as a certified car, meaning the certification is already on it, so to try to tell you oh you have to pay 899 for certification( which is true) and then to tell you they will do advertised price with certification is misrepresentation and can actually get them in trouble. I would steer clear of them because of this just on principle. If you are paying cash I agree to go to a private seller, however if you are financing then I would stick with a certified as you get the 1.9% financing. there are actually a lot of positives to buying certified as there is a more thorough inspection of the vehicle more replacement parts i.e tires brakes, warranty is so-so but the big thing is the financing. 10k miles is gonna be hard to come by again though lol.
BTw NMNH dealer fee and prep fee are BS I agree but Bank fee is not as it is an actual expense

Thank you for your opinions. For me the big plus was, as kaoticdemize pointed out, the through inspection that comes with CPO. I was thinking, because the inspection is already done, maybe it'd be better not to include certification. CPO gives me extra 30,000 mile warranty, but no extension on the duration of the warranty. I am expecting to drive less than 10,000 miles per year, so duration is more of an issue than miles.
Because the dealer&manager told me that $899 is going directly to Infiniti (which means they get nothing), I am planning to ask them $31,100 without certification.
But just wanted to get your opinions. Would getting certification really a plus for me?

It's going in their pocket.
At the end of the day people are gullible. So the dealer will tell you whatever he has to to get the car sold, because he knows that if later down the line you come back to him with a complaint about what you agreed on it will be your word against his. And being an Infiniti owner for a while now...let me tell you...99% of the time Infiniti USA sides with the dealer.
Funny that you mentioned you were at Fette Infiniti. I was there Friday afternoon; I left work early to go test drive a 2011 G37 coupe. I'm planning on leasing, since the lease rates are pretty attractive for the G37's. For a Fully Loaded 2011 G37 coupe AT (MSRP ~ $46,800) I was quoted at $495 per month with $0 inception fees (had everything rolled onto the monthly payment). Term was 36 months, 12K miles per year.
