Where/how to get a good deal on 2011 G37x
Hello,
I live near Kansas City and there is only one Infiniti dealer in town. The next closest dealers are 100+ miles away.
They have pretty much the exact car that I would like to get. G37x sedan with sport package, premium package, nav which = msrp about 43k. I am trading in two vehicles. Both are 2010 model year in decent shape and they have offered what I think are fair offers for both.
They won't budge from MSRP on the car at all though. I see folks around here and web sites saying I should be targeting closer to invoice which is probably around 39-40k. Honestly if they went to 41 or 41.5 and threw in the midnight black grill I would probably be ok with that.
They keep saying they can move money around between the trades and the vehicle cost but the total is not changing from here. I asked if the trades were not in the picture what kind of discount off MSRP they would do. The sales manager said 1k is max off msrp he is willing to do.
Do I call some dealers in nearby towns and ask for quotes? It seems the locals have put their foot down. If I don't come up with anything I'll probably just get something else. This dealer has kind of pissed me off now.

zag.com got me close, but not all dealers will honor their pricing.
I drove 150 miles to an alternate dealer because they were willing to work with me (the local dealer 10 miles away would not play ball).

You're in kind of a tough spot because of your trades. You can negotiate online (via email) with other dealers and see what kind of pricing you can get to see if they can get you a better price on the car you want. Once you have that, you could take a printout of the email to your local dealer and ask them to match it or you're taking your business elsewhere.
The tough part is that you won't know what the other dealer will give you on your trades - having two trades complicates things further. Also, given that these cars are 2010s you might find another dealer is much less interested in them for a number of reasons. Driving two cars 200+ miles round trip for a trade-in bid is a pain and may not yield the results you are hoping for.
I'd start with email negotiations - if that doesn't work, see if you are eligible for VPP, ZAG, or Costco pricing and try that angle with the original dealer - good luck!
