Mudslinging and FUD between dealers
The worst is when they try to bond with you and make themselves look like they are helpin you out by charging you more. The GM at that Nissan dealer I went to was trying to bond with my dad or watever by saying he was a family man and he would do anything for his kids just like my dad was doing for me. The whole time I was seeing right through his BullSh1t, he was very nice, but in the end he was just trying to screw me up on this car.
Having sold cars myself, it was a very good read. Pretty much spot on, except for the amount the salesman make per deal and per month...at least for the dealership I was at. I realize the article is old.
But as of ~2007 when I started selling cars, the average pocket for a new car sale was $200. The average pocket on a used car was about $800-$1200. And you sold roughly 1 car for every 10 rejections. The average sales per month per salesman was 10.
To the OP, at least you have multiple dealerships to go to (I guess?)
There's only one Infiniti dealership in all of Oregon...unless you want to drive ~150 miles to Tacoma.
On the flipside, two Infiniti purchases later at said dealership and of my 10 or so car buying experiences I have never had a better time.

That article pretty much describes car sales in the 80's and 90's.
Remember, Edmunds is funded by dealers, not consumers. THey're not on the consumer's side. They make money off of lead generation for dealers.
