About to make a purchase... help!

Hi everyone, I am about to make a purchase and wanted to ask you guys some questions.

1. I am leaning toward using Infiniti finance to finance the rest of my car (I am downpaying a big sum, then financing the rest)... I think the rate they offered me is good, but are there any hidden fees/charges?

2. I haven't had a car in a while and therefore I don't have car insurance... What should I do then? Can dealership get me a temporary insurance?

3. I am buying from a dealership that isn't my state (the border area). Would this cause any problem?

4. Anything I should look out for? I just don't want to get cheated....

Thank you and have a happy thanksgiving!DOMO

Infiniti Finance seems to be solid with no hidden fees/charges from our experience. We were planning to pay cash on our purchase, but opted to see if we qualified for the 0% interest for 3 years, which we did. We took the offer and there were no surprises. They set us up with automatic payment withdrawals and all has gone smooth so far with the first two payments (while we draw interest on their money! ).

I don't see any problems with buying out-of-state, you just have to have the car registered with your state and pay the taxes to your state. The dealership should be able to handle this for you.

>> no but if you are buying a new car why would you put anything down on 0.0% (for 3 years which works out to be like 100 bucks) or 0.9% financing (for 5 years)... that's like 600 bucks to borrow 40k... you still have an open loan, your credit rating won't be any different had you borrowed 10k or 40k... unless you're just sitting on money.

2. I haven't had a car in a while and therefore I don't have car insurance... What should I do then? Can dealership get me a temporary insurance?

> most dealerships cannot. But they also can't sell you a new car without insurance. so you'll need to sign up for one while you are there. so shop around before.

3. I am buying from a dealership that isn't my state (the border area). Would this cause any problem?

>> no, but you'll have to pay a few more fees to get the title/registration transferred to your state.

4. Anything I should look out for? I just don't want to get cheated....

>> unless your dealership is sketchy, standard purchase agreement applies. just make sure you understand EVERYTHING you are paying. This is buying a car not groceries.
