When will it end??? :(

So I bought a G37. Got a great deal. But the dealership is 330 miles away and not everything is on the car.

So the dealership gets the car in and tells me it'll be ready by the end of the week. I buy a plane ticket to pick up the car. Come Thursday I'm told not all the parts will be in until Monday because of the Easter holiday weekend. Plane ticket wasted! I raise hell, they agree to deliver the car to me when it's done. They say a porter will deliver, I say a truck will deliver, they agree.

Monday, waiting on parts. Tuesday waiting on something else. Thursday, waiting on the delivery company. Friday, still waiting on the delivery company. Finally Saturday night (tonight), 930pm it's delivered.

I'm so excited about it, I sign the delivery form from the truck driver, check out the car, dance around a bit, then run inside to grab a few things and take it out for a spin.

Just before I leave my parking space, something occurs to me: there's no tag. I run behind the car to make sure. Nope, no tag. I check the trunk, between the seats, under the seats, in the glove box... no tag. I check all the paperwork, I don't have an orginal completely signed bill of sale. I mailed my signed one back to them. I have no title. As a "luxury service" they say they'll do all the title work for me.

So now after two weeks of waiting and phone tag with the dealership, I finally get the car. Only to have no solid proof it's mine and unable to take it out of the parking lot... Just a Xerox of a half signed sale, and a proof of insurance.

Angry phone call tomorrow about why they put no tag on it, and why after I specifically asked for the final paperwork to be delivered with the car that it wasn't present. I sure hope they send some poor sap a 6hr each-way Sunday drive to deliver me a temp tag and papers!

shipping a car is always a pain in the *** unless you are doing a dealer transfer, too many hands get involved and nobody wants to hold themselves accountable...hope it all works out soon though!

Well I called the dealer and one of the managers happened to be in on a Sunday. I basically got an "oops, our bad" from him and he's overnighting a temp tag and the paperwork Monday. But that still means no driving out the parking lot until Tuesday night. He gave me his cell number, said I'm ok to drive just keep what papers I have in the car and that they do it all the time in Georgia...

I called the local Sheriff's Dept to see if I can drive without plates but with paperwork. I've seen people doing it and no idea how they get away with it. The Sgt assured me that if I was caught without some form of registration I would be severly fined and likely put in jail.

Well it looks nice in the parking lot

Dealership was Infiniti of South Atlanta

I was working mostly with Lakisha Johnson, the Fleet and Internet Sales Manager. She gave me a great price upfront and was very good about working out any issues before the buy. Also, she agreed to install a lot of options at invoice ONLY. Every other dealer wanted parts cost (much more than invoice) plus labor.

Kisha was very friendly and is obviously a very good salesperson. I can tell by the way that she responded to my concerns, answered questions, and handled things that she's experienced at making good sales. Obviously she can also recognize a smart buyer as she gave me the great price she did. The buying experience itself was actually quite excellent! She overnighted the paperwork to me with a prepaid return envelope and handled everything very professionally.

My issue is more with their service department. The car did need some work to get all the parts in and on. Kisha told me the service manager said the car should be ready by the first weekend. That's when I booked my ticket. Once that fell through, she quickly agreed to having the car delivered by truck once complete. The issues the second week were mostly complications with the delivery company which is completely out of their control.

Forgetting the temp tag on a delivered vehicle is a BIG screwup. That along with forgetting to send the final paperwork to me. But the general manager did his best to fix the situation. Just waiting a couple more days.

All in all, if you're in the Atlanta area and and get a good deal from them, I think it'd be a good experience. Having to do this all remotely has been a pain, but there's so few dealerships in the Florida panhandle area I have to reach far to get competitive pricing.

Really, I wouldn't fault the dealer. They made a mistake with tag/papers, but that my only real legitimate complaint. The rest is just my impatience.

I would ask them to make the first payment for you. IMAGIN the aggravation if you were to drive the car on THEIR bad advice with out plates and were to get pulled over...

Never bought a car from them, but I've had service there. All good experiences.
