G37x Sedan - Why so many '09s left?

Hi all --

Stumbled upon this forum and thought I would ask a question of you all. I just recently started looking at the G37x sedan. My local dealership (in Ohio) has about seven 2009 cars left; good deals on them, and if I did something soon, I would likely go with last year's model.

However...

I've been comparing (Audis, BMWs, Acuras, etc.) recently, and none of those dealerships have ANY 2009 models left, only new 2010s. I did a quick search of all online inventories at the three Ohio dealerships and found that there are over 30 G37x sedans available (some w/ and some w/o nav... all similarilly priced $39k-$42k).

So my question - why so many 2009s left and why aren't they being sold at a faster rate (with seemingly such good deals - good APRs, leases, about $6000+ off)?

If you look around, you will see that the 2010 G just came out about a month ago. Infiniti/Nissan usually put their cars out late in the year...like they introduced the all new '09 G convertible in April 2009; they can just label it as 2010.

This is one of reason I don't like about Infiniti/Nissan.

I partially agree w/ that. However, even when I purchased my '05 G, I need to wait till late '04. Infiniti/Nissan put out their cars early once in a while.

Toyota always put out cars early, especially the Camry, it usually came out in Feb. or March of the previous year (for the last 4 years). The 2011 Sienna will be out in Feb.

The G has just been a slow sales car since the beginning. Hopefully it is getting better with age, like a fine wine.

Hmmm...really? I was thinking the G was the hot car during the first couple years.

Anyways, another example is the Altima. I start buying Altima in 2003 and I noticed the same pattern, late introduction.

I'd say part of the problem is they made too many X's and saturated the market. Not enough RWD models available. Just look, I bet over 90% of remaining 09's are AWD. I asked my dealer why so many X's, and he said that's what the market wants. Clearly it's not, or there would be less available. A 6MT sedan is truly a rare thing. My dealer said they were only going to have 2 the whole year. TWO!!! Truly pathetic.

a bit off topic but i wonder if there is a way to see how many of what color, 6mt or auto or whatever options to calculate how rare our cars are.

but back to topic, since the the 2010 just came out a lot of times some of the unwanted 09 that don't have a good combo of options don't get sold so they are sometimes passed from dealer to dealer until they are sold. so sometimes a dealer might have one and want to get rid of it since it cant sell it so it trades it to another dealer plus cash for a better options model. and sometimes a greedy dealership gets stuck with some unpopular cars with bad options combo just because it wanted some quick cash from other dealership.

Yes, I agree there seems to be a ton of leftover 2009 G37x Sedans...

I shouldn't complain since I was able to take advantage of it and pickup an '09 G37x Sedan (Sport/Nav/Premium) this past weekend with 25 miles on it

Supply and demand...

+1. the 2010 Auidi's were available at the dealership in middle of the year. So it has to do with when new models get released.
