Is extended Warranty Negotiable?

I'm thinking of buying the extended warranty on the vehicle. What do you guys think? Worth it? What does it cover? Is it negitiable? If so, how low do you think I can get them?
Thanks!

Lots of people will say it's not worth it but it's all up to you. It gave me peace of mind so I went with it. It is definitely negotiable I believe the extended warranty was 2500 (they have 3 different plans), I got it for around 1k.

Yes, it's an item with a hard cost and lots of profit for the dealership built in. You can get the dealership to discount it, probably a pretty good discount right now with the poor state of car sales.

A freebie for the new guy, next time people (like me) will tell you to search for about 3 minutes and you'll find this exact same information the same way I did.

never buy dealer addons, all profit builders.

Get the extended warranty from a different vendor, can be found online, a lot cheaper. Also not worth it for leases.

Thanks, I'm still not sure which way to go. I was told it would be cheaper to buy it now. The price would go up if I purchased it later.
Im my opinion... if the car will have major problems most of them will be within the original warranty period, but with all the electronics, it might be a good idea to buy it. They're asking $1700. I'm sure I could get them down to $15k.

Don't pay more than half of that under any circumstance. Be sure you understand the fine print as to what will and won't be covered and for how long. Don't assume it will be "bumper to bumper" for X-amount of miles longer than the factory warranty even if that's what the salesman tells you. Look for exclusions and deductibles.

dealer lies, its padded with profit at the dealer.

It's cheaper elsewhere and after the sale.

According to Consumer Reports, most people lose $ on extended warranties than if they just ended up paying for repairs themselves after the original warranty. I think it was 70% of people who buy extended warranties would've been better off without it. Also, many non-manufacturer extended warranties have more loopholes whereby it's hard to get them to approve repairs.

Yes they are negotiable.

Dealers in Orange County, SoCal (Cerritos, Costa Mesa, and Tustin) were quoting me around $2500 for the 0 deductible 7 years / 100,000 miles warranty, but I talked one dealership (Infiniti Metro‎) down to $2000. I know it is still not the best price, but I was in hurry of getting it and was actually pretty happy with the price at the moment.

what does the warranty cover anyways? from what the salesman had told me, infiniti doesn't really cover much... ie- if my cup holder brakes they wouldn't fix it same goes for a windshield whiper!! (I guess i have to read the warranty package) hah

my audi replaces everything!!

I still love my G37S though

DO IT!

I bought an extended warranty on my G35 coupe (2003) through penske.. cost me $2,000 for a 48 month/48000 mile warranty.. I've had the car for 8 months and under that extended warranty I've gotten

2 window motors replaced
2 door lock actuators
New front driver side caliper
and right now the car is at infiniti getting a brand new differential (full cover)
and also getting a brand new A/C compressor.

All those parts plus labor would have costed me way over $2000 out of pocket.. Not only that, but I still have 40 months left on that warranty.

Definitely paid off for me.

BTW my extended warranty came with a brochure.. In that brochure it listed everything that was covered. Its almost bumper to bumper warranty.

I bought the warranty for $1550. It extends the original warranty to 7 years or 100k miles. It's through infiniti, not an outside company. It's bumper to bumper and has a $100 deductible.
For $1550, I thought it was worth it fir the peace of mind. Some may not agree...
