Trade-in G35c for G37, Was Dealer Fair?

I was close to trading my LR G35c for a VR G37c, sport until the used car manager hit me with an insulting price of $14,000 !!! My G35 has only 30,000
miles, 19" ADR sterlings on Toyo T-1 R's, 245 fr/275 r, Borla true dual, AEM
cai, and is in exellent cond., incl. $239.95 complete detail at the same dealership 1/11/08 Kelly Bluebook "trade-in" is $19,320-good and $20,375 excellent. The G37 would be my third Infiniti purchase from this Dealer. I have been a loyal customer for cars and ALL service work since 1993.

This was a low blow and may cause me to go out of state for a G37

Wow that is an insult, CarMax offered me $13,000 and my car old G35 had 80,000 miles, with ADR Sterlings.. Your better off selling it private. I just sold mine to a friend for $15k which paid my 2yr lease on the G37 so whatever. Deffinately check many dealers, youd be surprised how good a deal you can get if you find a dealer who wants to 'deal.'

Don't do it. Sell it private party, you WILL get close to 19,000.

First off, the dealer gave me 16,000 for my 03 G35 that was completly stock. The first dealer I went to only offered me 14,850, but I was able to get the price I got when I went to another dealer that told me they wanted by business so that's the price they gave me. Take in to consideration that that was last month. Car's will always drop on value when the new year comes. The price you got was about the correct price. The main reasons why they gave you that price is that you're taking an older car back to the same manufacturer that just released a newer model of that car. And, when you usually take a car back to the same manufacuturer, they are going to offer you what they know the car will sell for at auction so they don't lose money if the car doesn't sell on the lot.

You would get a better price private party like DiamondCoupe said. And the reason why he got a higher price from carmax is because they sell to a different market.

Do you still have all of the stock parts? Most dealers place much higher values on stock, non-modified cars and you can sell your mods over at G35Driver or on eBay.

Not a good deal. Sell it privately. Insurance gave me $22,500 for my totaled 03 w/50K miles on it.

Yes, I have the stock 18's w/o Tires, exhaust, intake, and grill, but the 19"
T1 R's are like new and I didn't want to hassle of de-modding.

I thought that 14 years of loyalty to the same dealer's service dept. and
my third new car purchase would get me a "fair" deal, not $6,000 below
KBB for an 03 with only 30K mi. It's OK, I can buy a new car in WA, and still
have it serviced at the OR dealer.

Wow! What was the first car that you bought from them?

If you want to give them one last shot, take 2 copies of the KBB trade-in "good" value and go see the GM or president of the dealer. Tell him that you are a loyal long-time customer, that this is the fair trade-in value of the vehicle, and that if they continue to try to jerk you around on the trade that you can and will take your current and future business elsewhere. I bet he/she will get it taken care of, especially when you show him on paper what the KBB value is.

Oh, another thing... If you buy a car in WA with an OR address, do they still charge you sales tax?

You're much better off buying in CA than in WA.
