Better act fast... summer is coming... lol.
This week sometime I'm going to pull my car into the shop and hook it up to an evac machine to see what it says. Something tells me it is going to be low on Freon, or related to the compressor in general. Maybe I just got a crap new OEM compressor from Z1, or maybe the installer messed up an O-ring. From the pressure readings on my co-worker's diag tool, he said it looked like it was holding a charge. When I get home I'll 100% check the sunload sensor - it's only the one at the center/top of the dash, correct? Really appreciate the tip.

The install was done by our Nissan dealership so I'll likely be getting my money back for the install if there's an issue with the compressor, which is nice.

Well today was a total bust. This car is starting to push my patience. But this is part of it, and my car is far from stock and beyond bolt-ons at this point, so yeah- still worth it.

Went to swap radiator hoses today and discovered another coolant leak, this time not from the hoses or hose clamps. Either my brand new thermostat is broken or was installed incorrectly (gasket…). Coolant was dripping out on the ac compressor and pooling up in the Z1 under shroud again. So that’s another source of my coolant leaks…luckily since that install was done by our Nissan shop I’m not paying a penny to have them fix it, other than a new thermostat possibly since I supplied the part. Also likely why my AC isn’t kicking on full blast but still feels cold (just no fans with AC on, works with AC off). Unless the coolant leak ruined the new compressor somehow. Which wouldn’t be fun.

I would DIY but not when I can have it fixed right for free, so I’ll let them redo that. And this time I’m making sure they use my new constant tension clamps and Mishi radiator hoses.

On a slightly positive note, I installed my Z1 rear diff brace on my OEM diff cover and it feels great. Downside, I get a slight small rattle at certain rpm, due to the fact that there’s 1mm of clearance between the HKS muffler pipe section and the brace. So if you are considering the Z1 brace with an HKS Hi-Power catback, it works, barely. I might remove it for the sake of my HKS exhaust.

I don’t plan to keep the HKS mufflers on forever, so when I pair the sport accessory muffler with the HKS mid pipe I’ll be able to have some connector pipes made that give it some clearance for the brace.

I’ll drop my car off at Nissan next week. Hopefully this really will be the last of my coolant and AC woes for a while. I’m going to go ahead and grab a new water pump asap to keep on hand. It’s a matter of when it goes out at this point. It does not seem to be the water pump failing. I’ll check the weep hole again once the weather gets better here but didn’t see any coolant there earlier.

My IPL bumper is officially for sale, posted in the classifieds (link below).

Asking $1500 - local pickup only, but I do have the box from my new bumper still so if someone is really willing to pay for $200+ shipping it can be arranged.

Dropping my car off at our Nissan sister store tomorrow, so I’ll wait for the verdict. If it’s the water pump, I might be SOL for a while. We shall see, but I don’t have high hopes at this point.

Im all over the place if those who’ve followed this thread know by now- just taking it day by day. We’ll see what happens.

Lady Luck did me right for once instead of doing me dirty like usual. Turns out the thermostat was a little loose causing the leak. Our techs at Nissan tightened everything back up and I’m good to go on coolant leaks. They did a full pressure test with a better tool than we have at our shop so I feel confident I shouldn’t have issues for a while.

I’ll still be swapping my radiator hoses and clamps sometime soon - I didn’t have them swap the hoses and clamps when it was in the shop. I’ll DIY in my shop so I know everything is as perfect as it can be.

Didn’t have time today but I’m plugging my car up to an AC machine tomorrow to see what’s up with my compressor. I’m guessing it may be low. The mishimoto condenser appears a little thicker than OEM and might have more capacity- I went off the hood/engine bay sticker.

No Freon at all in my system LOL. Oh well. Good news the leak is a super easy fix. One of the O-rings on the condenser inlets failed. Should only take a few minutes to replace. I’ll get a picture of the leak tomorrow. I’m happy it’s just a failed o-ring.

I’m still curious why my teflon SS braided oil cooler lines from fast intentions are so grimy. I hope it’s not an oil leak.It almost looks like the fitting may be leaking into the braiding ever so slowly. Maybe it has to do something with the electrostatic charges of certain road grime sticking to the braiding. If anyone is knowledgeable please chime in. I have no oil drips etc from the hose. I’ll grab a picture tomorrow.

Plasti dipped my new bumper fog light surrounds while the new bumper is waiting to go on. With yellow fog lights it will look 10x better than the chrome, IMO.

Did about 7-8 coats of dip then 3 coats of glossifier. I taped off the clips before painting. I didn’t want them to get gunked up and have a hard time clipping back in.

Edit- had to redo them because of the glossifier coats. PSA do not use plast-dip glossifier unless you want everything imaginable sticking to it- it makes the dip extremely tacky. I thought it was just me, but I've read elsewhere glossifier essentially ruins it because of the tackiness.

Also, update for my bumper. Luckily I'm able to get it painted at my shop- we have a body shop for all of our dealerships on-premise and I work closely with them, so they were nice enough to paint it for me. The best part is they are a Nissan certified shop, so they have KH3 paint in stock and I don't need to buy a thing. Just need to drop off my bumper. Exciting stuff.

New OEM sport bumper got finished getting painted at my shop and looks great. I'll install it this Friday or Saturday, just waiting on the upper bumper trim seal to arrive in the mail. The seal isn't included with the sport fascia (or the sport fascia conversion kit from Z1) for some dumb reason and has to be purchased separately. I also broke one of the clips on my driver-side bumper fascia bracket after pulling my bumper half a dozen times so I have a new one on the way. Panel gaps kill me.

The OEM coupe upper front bumper/fascia seal part number is 65820-JL01C for anyone else looking for it.

Curious to see how the plasti-dipped fog light covers and Morimoto fog lights covered in yellow Lamin-X film end up looking. Hoping the fogs don't need too much adjustment. If I hate the yellow, I'll just peel the film. Same for the dipped OEM chrome fog light covers. Easy fix.

Pictures to follow.

Forgot to grab one of it actually installed so I’ll grab one later when the weather is better here. But here’s the new painted OEM sport fascia before I popped it in.

For anyone else installing Morimoto fogs you do NOT need to use the additional wire they supply. Plug and play. I still need to adjust/raise mine up a hair but they look a lot better than I was anticipating. Honestly makes the car look younger.

I’d like to paint my grille next and fill in the Infiniti emblem to make it straight bars all the way across with no emblem. I’ll probably buy a spare grille to do that in my free time. Shouldn’t be too difficult with the right materials. Years ago we were lucky enough to have a forum member who modified them like that, but that stopped long ago so I’ll just have to DIY.

Oh and I finally got my AC fixed again. My coworker swapped the condenser side O-ring in 5 minutes for me. It definitely would have taken me a bit longer (putting it politely lol) so I’m beyond grateful for his help. Cheers to you Dimitri.

Well it was nice to have AC again for a day. My 2nd/replacement Mishimoto condenser failed on me and just popped, in the same spot as last time but on the driver side. There seems to be a problem with the welds at the seams halfway up the side of the condenser. I'm going to reach out to Mishi and see what they say, but at this point I'm pissed with the amount of time I've had to spend replacing their condenser. The radiator has been fantastic. The condenser is garbage. In the off chances that someone from Mishimoto sees this, please make things right. I shouldn't have to replace the condenser 2+ times. It's a lot of time and effort at this point.

If I didn't work in a shop this would have been very expensive to fix multiple times. Freon is not cheap either.

Glad to have the OEM sport bumper back. Now I just need to snag a 9lives racing or battle aero chassis mount splitter kit. Once I adjust the height of the fogs I’ll get a picture of how they look and project at night.

Also found some shorty headers from VQBoysPerformance that look good so I might grab them sooner than later. I just want to confirm the collector/outlet ID. I’d like a collector to match the AAM RHFC ID. I’m not going through the hassle of swapping to DE HFCs and a compatible exhaust for the Z1 shorties. I may consider swapping to PPE LTHs, but that would also require an exhaust redo to keep cats in there somewhere. Shorties seem like my best bet, personally. Anyways here’s a couple shots of the bumper finally.

Love that bumper. Good job.

Have you ever checked out Covercraft sunscreens? They're a perfect fit, ridged with a soft side, and look absolutely fantastic. Couple of different colors, too.

Bought one for my G years ago, and ended up getting one for the wife and both kids' cars.

Thanks for the kind words. In the wonderful words of Babs Pewderschmidt, “It was the right thing to do” swapping back to the OEM sport bumper.

I’m sure you saw my aging weather tech shade in that picture- a new sunshade is on my shopping list. I actually tried a covercraft before I bought the weather tech and the covercraft had bad fitment for my coupe so I returned it. I’m not sure if it’s improved or maybe I got sent the wrong model, but it looked like the correct model number to me after checking when I saw it didn’t fit well. I think I’ll grab the Z1 sunshade they just released since it looks to have perfect fitment for the coupe and essentially a copy of the covercraft.

Got a promotion at work that’s kept me busy to say the least….running a dealership service department for 2 brands is an undertaking…and I’m only the assistant service manager, LOL. Anyways, I’m going to “take a half day off of work” sometime next week and spend some time with my car in our shop to swap out the 2nd failed Mishimoto condenser. I’m going to try and clean the undercarriage and do a proper full undercarriage coating while I’m working on it (and let it sit overnight in the shop and dry). I’ve noticed some minor surface rust starting to form in a few spots and want to nip it in the bud before letting any rust start to form. I’ll try to remind myself to take pictures of everything.

Other items I noticed that are aging include the wiper arms, but I may try to refinish and repaint those myself vs buying new ones at $200ish for both. The window seals are leaking also, so that’s been added to my to-do list. I replaced my driver side bumper bracket when I put on my new bumper and should have replaced the passenger also because it also finally broke putting the bumper on and left a small gap (OCD OCD OCD I say…). Whenever I pull the bumper again I have a spare passenger bracket ready to go on.

Been thinking about the front lip/splitter situation too. I still might do a frame mounted splitter, but honestly, I think I’d be more content with a custom carbon front lip. Think NISMO-esque. It shouldn’t be difficult to make a foam mold I’m happy with, and I’ll hand that off to a carbon fibre specialist to make something pretty from my mess. Who knows, might be able to help bring another product to market for the G37 coupe (well, for those with the 11-13 sport bumpers).

Still need to drop my pumpkin…life just gets crazy sometimes. In a few months I should have the time and resources free to get it installed by a true professional I trust. I’m going to have Seb from SpecialtyZ remotely dyno tune it on a Mainline pro hub dyno. The 4.08 and Wavetrac will be fun. Z1xStillen supercharger kit is still happening also, just taking my time. Priorities. And I’d rather get the rest of my car finished first (ie 6 pt roll bar, harnesses, remaining suspension arms).

Oh and my spare full set of staggered Work Emotion ZR10 wheels are up for sale in the private classifieds if anyone is interested, along with my mint IPL front bumper.

Hope everyone reading this is doing good.

Cheers
