Hey all first off I would like to thank everyone at myg37.com for the help
With that being said I purchased a 2010 g37 convertible from a dealer in North Carolina. I had leased a 2015 q60 convertible 5 years ago and I fell in love. Obviously being that it was a lease I couldn’t make my adjustments to it so it was bone stock the 39 months that I had it. When it came to lease end Infiniti wanted 42k to buy out a car that was worth at best 30k at the time. It didn’t make financial sense. Fast forward 2 kids later I told my wife i’m buying it and pulled the trigger on a white one priced decently with 55k miles.
I flew from NY to NC picked it up and drove it back home. The car sat in Miami most its life so the sun beat the dashboard down to the point it had cracks all over. The trim was scratched. the shift **** was destroyed. headliner was water stained. All material issues which I could fix. The seats were stone grey and I just not was a fan. headlight fog and dreaded tpms light was on.
Since I purchased it i changed the seat color put front and side splitters. changed tires and brakes. changed all the trim. magic erased the headliner. got a new stock shifter. took out the outdated radio set up and put in the tesla screen 13 inch one. only one compatible for the convertible apparently.
up next is replacing the whole dash board so that the inside is as close to new and stock as possible. ran into an issue with tpms because i bought the wrong model of course my luck so i’m waiting on the correct model to come. i also bought the sport pedals and the paddle shifters just to give it that sport feel even though it’s not. I will update this thread as I keep going but here are a few pics of how everything is so far.
I swapped out the dashboard like I said I would. I finally replaced all trim pieces with some new pieces on the interior.
I also swapped on my injen short rams for the stillen gen 3 long tube intakes.
im looking currently for the stillen 504402 model cat back exhaust to get that on the vert without having to modify anything.
I just ordered the fast intentions test pipes to pair it with the Stillen cat back. Due to covid their lead time is like 3 months but that’ll be the next project once it comes in. Pretty much wrapping the projects up until winter is over.
I also did an install of the paddle shifters. A big huge thank you to ILM-NC G37S from this forum to literally walk me through the install and sending me the required wires to wire this car due to the fact that my convertible was not already pre wired.
Glad they worked out. If you're enjoying them as much as I am enjoying my heated wheel... then all is good.
thank you brother I really do appreciate it.
Rochester thank you and to answer your question yes the girls did scuff it a bit but not bad. I test wrapped gloss black to see how I’d like the color and come early next year I’ll be re-spraying the whole car black. Not wrapping I don’t see the sense in a wrap if I’m doing a basic color.
isee you are somewhat near me so if you can refer me to some good paint shops let me know it would be greatly appreciated.
don’t get me started on those seats. One of the most intricate things I’ve ever done in my life.
350 miles between you and I, boss... can't help you with a shop rec.
White to black, huh? That's brave. BTW, sure is cool seeing that tesla-like screen when leaning into a Vert.
oh I thought you were closer
and yes white to black I got some quotes on pricing already but figured speaking to a few more shops wouldn’t hurt.
the Tesla screen was definitely worth the buy. My only complaint which is no fault to the makers is that when that top is down and the sun is shining you can not see a thing off that screen. It’s cool though when my daughters friends come around I tell them this is her car and let them play Super Nintendo off the screen 🤣
From a father's perspective getting your kids out of a convertible looks like a ton of fun.
How are your seats holding up to wear after the paint/dye?
For the screen you could look into a sunshade screen glass just like the ones they make for phones. As long and the measurements are correct and the screen is flat it should work
Black with a red interior will be an amazing look.

not sure if you seen the car seat there but let me tell you it’s so easy taking my 3 year old out and putting her in when that top is down lol easier then my truck.
seats are holding up very well which is a pleasant surprise. I did my research before I pulled the trigger on it. Auto leather dye seemed to be the best option rather then spraying it down which would’ve probably rubbed off in a week. It was meticulous sitting there for hours with a small sponge brush and heat gun laying coat after coat. I think I was at around 10 coats before I was happy with the results.
The sunshade glass actually is a great idea didn’t even think of that I am going to look into it and maybe just cut it to size if they sell a big enough sheet.
lastly yes when the ipl came out with the red seats even the anniversary edition I fell in love. Always loved the black and red combo. Since those are impossible to find anymore I decided to just make my own. I did find an ipl front bumper I can get on the car but finding ipl side skirts that are made for the convertible because according to 5 different places ipl coupe side skirts are not compatible with the convertible is next to impossible. I will keep searching before it finally goes in for respray but if I don’t I’ll keep what I have on now.
IPL side skirts... absolutely..
IPL rear bumper... nope. Looks fat and silly.
IPL front bumper... I'd keep your modified sport bumper. Looks better than the IPL.

appreciate the thoughts but few things the ipl side skirts for the vert are impossible to find I been looking for a year now and have called every junk yard across the country and inquired with dealerships even though I rather chop off my arm then give them business.
front bumper is easy to find but are a bit pricey so not only that I’d have to change out my front lip which I did drop 220 on so financially wouldn’t make sense.
correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t the vert rear bumpers the same across the board from ipl all the way to base ? If they’re different they look pretty similar. I even tried to look for a rear splitter but of course none are vert specific and need modification and if it’s one thing I learned through my years modifying an already aftermarket part is rarely a great idea.

I did not mean it sarcastically. I mean it really must be fun to pick them up an drop without a roof getting in the way.

oh i know I apologize if it came off as sarcastic on my end. But yes so much easier luckily it’s a nice day out today so just took them out for a spin they love it
Looking nice! What dye did you use for the leather? Did you paint the rear seat center tray and the buttons on the passenger seat?
I went on auto leather dye .com and bought their Maserati red option. I tried to do the stock Monaco color that the ipl’s came with but that wasn’t an option on that site. Overall I’m definitely happy but to a true g owner you know off the bat that it isn’t the stock Monaco color.
Yes I painted both, I sanded the center tray down then dyed it. That part was giving me issues so I hit it with 10+ coats and then hit it with clear coat to seal everything in. That’s why it looks a little shiny. I will say though it’ll definitely come off if scratched. When the weather starts getting a little warmer I’m going to revisit that just some imperfections that **** me off but you wouldn’t notice at a glance. I will say if you’re going to start this venture dedicate at least 12+ hours to disassemble and lay 10+ coats with a sponge brush. I used a heat gun to speed the process up but still took me a while to do it.
