Rob, I completely agree. More offset and tire is needed for sure.
Rochester, you're not dumping at all, I asked for honest opinions and I appreciate the feedback. The garage is pretty awesome, my dads a mechanic by trade for over 30 years so I get all his old tools as he upgrades at the shop. As you can imagine there's just about any tool I'll ever need in the garage. I've been spoiled with air tools all my life lol.
These TE's are for sure not the most attractive wheels especially without much concave. I'm hoping with the proper sized tire, 15mm spacers all around, and an eventual drop they'll look sporty enough. They've been my dream wheels since I was in my teens and when I found this set 2 years for a steal I was super stoked. I can't bring myself to sell them.
Ah, the old TE37's. If I had a dime for every time I have seen those on an R34 I could probably retire.
I think you could probably make those work with some changes to the car. The good news is that the shape of the spokes is rounded somewhat like some of the styling of the car. In other words, I can see the resemblance between the wheel spokes and your door handles.
The bad news is that you have a ton of wheel gap and chrome on your car which both conspire to make your wheels a bit of an eyesore. If you are planning on track days I am sure you have started researching our limited aftermarket suspension options which would cure the wheel gap. You could always black out most of the chrome on the car with black vinyl wrap or maybe even a carbon wrap or metallic gray to match the wheels a bit better. The other option is painting or powdercoating the wheels. Probably not powdercoating if you plan to track with those wheels. Then again, who paints a set of TE37's?
Or maybe you are just using those wheels for track days which would be great for hiding all the brake dust and you can forget everything I just said in the above paragraph about color matching.
TBH, I'm not really digging the wheels. But OMG your garage space is amazing! Lucky guy.
Not looking to dump on your thread, your thread is great so far, but you're asking for honest thoughts and that's where my head is at. Usually dark finished wheels don't look good (to me) on a white car unless you go with a really high gloss, or gloss black. These look kind of dull in the pics. The fat 6-spoke design doesn't appeal to me either, I prefer a wheel with details. And the OEM ride height just doesn't help, but I'm sure you know that.
Now if your intent here is to have a track-focused set of wheels... OK. That makes more sense. But just for the visual appeal, nah, I don't see it.
Garage space Oh My Jesus!!!
On another note, the wheels have potential. Once you drop it and space them out they will start looking better.
Almost finished gathering everything for my 90k service, just waiting on Redline D6 fluid for the power steering and some off the shelf motor oil/filter. Plan is to get mostly everything done next weekend including the not pictured Bell Racing diff brace, poly fill the diff bushing, and Z1 oil cooler. Along with swapping out the K&N short rams that came with the car for stock intakes/AFE drop ins and TB cleaning. Brake fluid will wait until I finalize which daily/track pad combo I'll be running.
Unfortunately, the wife and I just re-did out budget and the car fund took a little hit so tires and brakes will come early next year then it is on to track days/seat time.
Then starts Phase 2, which I'm already itching to get on to.
Also if anyone is interested I'll be posting a set of red pre-2015 370z NISMO springs in the marketplace shortly.
A little update, nothing happening yet but getting parts is always fun. Ended up doing all the maintenance on my brothers car over the holidays since he was in town, been too lazy to do mine since the car just sits In the garage. I'm planning on getting on everything soon though and getting out to a track day by March. Few more parts acquired from Christmas.
1. Eibach sway bars, scored them for a touch over $300 from Kamispeed so I had to jump on them.
2. Zspeed SS clutch line.
3. Z1 20mm front/15mm rear wheels spacers with extended studs.
4. Square 245/45/18 Indy500 tires. Got these for under $300 with 7.5-9/32's. With the budget being a little tight I made a call to go squared for rotation and split the cost of higher costing tires between these and the sways.
The Nismo springs sold to backman_66 and the 19" coupe wheels sold locally so I'll be sticking with the TE's. I dropped them off to be refinished as well! Excited to get them back next week sometime. Here is the color I'm shooting for:
Here are the new to me tires compared to the outgoing 245/40's:
Lastly, my cousin finally put 1k break in miles on his new GT350 so I had to take her out for a spin. Just wow. This thing is amazing, steering response is phenomenal, the shifter is soo good that when I got back in the G it felt like a truck from the 80's. Power is great, more than enough to have fun with but not soo much that you really can't put your foot down around town. Apologize for the crappy angle, I was just soo jazzed up from driving it.
Don't worry about your shifter. A B&M shift kit, a weighted shift ****, and a Z1 urethane transmission mount will be a big help. Motor mounts and a rear diff brace will be even better. An RJM pedal assembly will take care of any clutch issues too.

I just about convinced myself to go the Coolerworx unit lol
I’ve been looking for the softest durometer trans mount I can find to keep NVH down.
RJM pedal was the first mod I had completed actually, and the bell raceworks diff brace was the first mod I purchased lol. Just waiting to get my maintenance done and install it.
Just picked up my wheels too and they turned out exactly as I wanted. I’ll get pictures up in a few.
I have the diff brace and I will say it was a worthwhile upgrade but haven't bit the bullet for the RJM pedal. How do you like it?
I've been around the forums long enough to know that people generally love to rave about their mods and say its the best thing ever, but in my opinion the RJM pedal is the #1 addition you should make when purchasing this car. Keep in mind I say that while driving basically a factory 6MT, no other real characteristic changing modifications, but I have plenty of experience with suspension and power mods on other cars. With how inconsistent the clutch engagement was and how weird it felt to have the pedal "spring" up during travel made it very hard to drive smoothly. With the RJM pedal all of that is gone, 1st to 2nd is a smooth shift now, the ability to adjust the engagement point from the top of the pedal stoke to the middle is my favorite part. Only downside is if you are UBER sensitive there is a little more NVH, and by little more I mean you have to be very very picky to notice it. Kinda nit picky and it really shouldn't be a factor at all when considering the purchase.
The wheels didn't come out as "polished" as I originally wanted but I actually like the end result better. Here's a look in direct sun and in the shade :
Color is Prismatic Powders Polished Aluminum with a Clear Vision clear coat. They came out perfect for the simple OEM/understated look I'm going for.
Now to decide if I should slap on the authentic blue VOLK ENGINEERING and RAYS WHEELS stickers that I've been sitting on. Kinda goes against the understated look though, let me know your guys thoughts.
That looks good, should really 'pop' against the white. Are the calipers staying OEM silver or are you considering changing color?
I'm indifferent about the stickers but I say you should do it. It will break up the look a little and add a nice touch.
Thanks for the note about the RJM pedal, I was really hoping you would say otherwise so I don't have to spend more money
For now calipers will stay silver. From my understanding tracking will eventually discolor them and at that point I’ll consider different colors. Likely black though.
Ha sorry but you won’t be disappointed with it that’s for sure.

Go with whatever shift kit you want, I am sure it will be an improvement. Just make sure you use a well respected company that has the engineering capability to make quality products. There always seem to be lots of new companies popping up making shift kits, and a lot of them are not very good quality. I don't remember you posting on here about the RJM pedal and rear diff. brace, but those are both great upgrades. The wheels look good.

I agree that the RJM pedal assembly is a worthwhile upgrade if the clutch engagement annoys you.
The stock bushings, clutch, etc. really leave a lot to be desired as far as performance is concerned in our cars. I get it that the engineers had a tough job of trying to get rid of NVH in the notoriously rough VQ in trying to be competitive with other luxury brands, but good luck competing with the much smoother inline 6 engines in BMWs. Clearly they took the cheaper version of solving the problem by putting soft bushings everywhere. However, this does mean that fixing that problem is relatively easy with new bushings.
I've heard that quite a bit of the SS options for this chassis mostly suck. The fellas over at MotoIQ weren't very happy with the B&M kit on their 370z build either due to some major rattling. Here's the Coolerwrox unit :

I still need to deep dive into shifters though for phase 2.
Up next is going to be a set of G-LOC brakes R12/R10 with GS-1's on the street. I'll be ordering them pre-bed on Tuesday.
Coolerworx is from Lithuania?? No wonder I had never heard of them. My B&M shift kit has not made a single noise in all the years I have had it installed.
