I just ordered the JDM "Nissan" steering wheel cover to complete the interior transformation from Infiniti over to Nissan Skyline. This includes new Sparco seats and "Skyline" illuminated kick plates. I struggled with buying this part because it is by far the most expensive part just for a Nissan badge.
I left the clock because the emblem is so tiny. I thought about the Infiniti start up screen too, but the software would probably turn the language to Japanese so I think I can live with an Infiniti emblem for the one second it takes to boot up.
A friend in Wales told me that their Nissan Skylines have the Japanese or English language option. This was the same with the New Zealand and Australia. But, I wouldn't worry that much with it unless the current screen is experiencing troubles. And that is a good looking cover you were able to find. When I converted my interior to black, I had to find just the black cover and was lucky enough to find one on Ebay from New Jersey for $70. Are you going to change the speedometer to the Japanese version to show kph, or would that be overkill? I remember mentioning the JDM taillights, and I used to want them before. But after reminiscing over the Nissan Skyline R33 models taillights, I realized the USDM versions are actually pretty awesome since a lot of the guys in Europe try to buy the ones we have. I recall when the Nissan Skyline R34 model came out, they had a change in regulation and added the amber mark on the larger taillight circle.
No, I'm not going to change the speedometer. That would make it harder for me to see mph which we use here in "Murica. I really dislike the JDM tail lights that bulge out like Mercury Cougar tail lights from the late '90's.
However, I was thinking of using dark tint on the "Skyline" and "370" badge on the trunk. I did this on my Evo and it had the effect of black chrome. I might then paint the Nissan badges flat or gloss black with white or silver "Nissan" letters.
Hey got your PM 👍🏽. Looks like were both in the same stages of our Nissan swap. My exterior is done but my interior is still Infiniti. My tints are dark enough so no one will be to able to see that when they walk by. Lol
For the grille, I kept it OEM. I painted my grille black and kept the chrome on the outside so it's a nice match
My trunk emblems I did paint black. I thought it would look better with the black valence. A friend of mine here in NY does a lot of custom paint work for cars and he hooked me up with what I envisioned.
Also couldn't forget the center caps. I feel like a lot of people over look this part when doing the swap. Was looking for textured chrome Nissan caps but of course they don't have. I settled for used Altima caps from eBay for $10. Excuse the dirty wheels.
Now as for the airbag cover, I purchased the cover in black from JDMpartsninja with the promise of my friend being able to paint match it to my grey interior. Didn't turn out so well 🤣
The logo wasn't supposed to be black either but we're cool with each other so no hard feelings. He's going to match it to silver trim and hopefully try again on the color. I tried to see if SEM had anything but I couldn't really find much. Guess I'll shoot them an email.
My kickplates are coming in Monday and I was skeptical on the new style but the pic you posted looks great and definitely feel this design is better. As for the skyline lettering, not doing that. I took the Infiniti letters off day one of getting the car. Looks cleaner with just the logo.
Still searching for some other little things but I'm getting there. The airbag cover was the biggest pain in the a$$ for all this.
Thanks for sharing the extra pictures. So did he paint your Nissan badge on your trunk gloss black or flat black? He must have gone back and painted "Nissan" white with a brush. Or did he do it some other way? I like the look. I agree with you on removing the Infiniti letters from the trunk since they were redundant with the Infiniti fuji right above it. However, I think Skyline would look good below the Nissan badge. I might overlay dark tint on the "Skyline" and "370" badges to tie them to the Nissan badge better or I might just paint the face of those letters black.
I was going to try my front grille without any badge because it is not stock and looks a bit mean on its own with the Z1 intakes peering behind it. I may also decide on a gloss black Nissan badge to match the carbon wrap framing the grille or a flat black to match the mesh behind it. Thoughts? My current grille is the one on the bottom.
I was thinking the same but I figured I'd just get a plate frame that says skyline and call it a day. He painted it flat black and painted the letters with a brush. I'm all about a clean OEM+ look so I'd say the OEM grille. Your current grille actually looks good and I think it would bring out the Nissan logo more especially if you do it in black

That Nissan badge on your trunk looks awesome! I think gloss black would look good on my car to tie in with the glossy carbon fiber on my front grille, chin spoiler, rear diffuser etc. I cannot use an oem badge on my grille due to it being flat, but one from a trunk would work (what I did with my Infiniti badge). When you get a sec can you tell me the width and height of your front grille Nissan badge and trunk Nissan badge? Thanks!
The custom iron on patches for my floor mats arrived and they look great. I should be able to get these on soon to finish transforming my oem G37 mats into Skyline 370GT mats. Total cost $4. Sure beats the hell out of ordering all new custom mats.
Thanks. When I took a closer look at the script on the oem floor mats I noticed that it was really just an iron on patch. It took a little while to find a company that made exactly the right size, color, and a similar script. I discovered this the day after I ordered custom embroidered mats from American floor mats. It has been almost a month now and 4 phone calls to them, but I have still not received my refund.
I got a chance to put the 370GT patches on my floor mats and they turned out well. (You do have to be very careful not to melt the carpet as well) So now all the mats are done and I have the steering wheel airbag cover on order as well as all of the badges for the trunk and all the paint and vinyl I should need. My plan is to paint the Nissan badge gloss black and the Nissan letters white. Then I will wrap the Skyline letters in gloss black vinyl and probably the 370.
1/7/2019- The 1st mod of 2019 and it is a good one. The Bell Raceworks rear differential brace transforms the way the car puts down power. The most bang for the buck drivetrain/suspension mod so far. More on page 66.
1/28- After wind chills to -53 degrees I upgraded from the 580 CCA battery to a new 700 CCA battery that also has a much better warranty.
7/12- Installed carbon fiber mirror caps from EZSplitters. Quality product that is lightweight, but EZSplitters has very slow service. More on page 76.
7/31- I finally got the Bride seat rails and Sparco R600 seat for the passenger side and shaved off almost 20 lbs. in the process. Here is a link to the install if anyone else is thinking of replacing their seats (post 376): https://www.myg37.com/forums/body-in...-sedan-26.html
8.6- I added this funny sticker to my passenger mirror the other day. Every sticker adds 50 hp, right?
where did you get the carbon fiber wrap for the chrome around the doors?
