Yes, these are OEM JDM parts so they should hook up just fine.

I am glad you commented because it reminds me to ask you how high up from the bottom of the trunk you measured when you put on your Skyline badge. I know we have talked about this Skyline badging thing before. I am giving this more and more thought now that I am thinking I am done tracking the car where most people would expect a GT-R as soon as they see Skyline.

I am trying to convince myself that I am just returning it to its original badging since it is called a Skyline where it is made. If I go through with it I am switching over all the badging including the steering wheel, badge on the front grille, floor mats, and just a Skyline badge on the trunk with the 370GT. I struggle with the fact that I like the Infiniti fuji better than the Nissan emblem that looks like a hamburger and also the fact that the car was sold here as a G37. Hmmm...

You know what? We had this same discussion two and a half years ago. Here's the link and some pics:

https://www.myg37.com/forums/build-t...ml#post4114710

When swapping INFINITI for SKYLINE, first thing I did was create a tool to make sure the new letters went on the car exactly where the old ones were, and exactly level to the same line. At first glance it might seem like overkill. Maybe at second glance, too. But it sure worked perfectly.

With duct tape on the backside so it doesn't scratch the paint, bend the 3 vertical pieces to fit, starting from the bottom with a little 90 catch under the trunk lip. Then tape them down to the trunk, and apply indoor/outdoor mounting tape to them and lay down the horizontal piece against the mounting tape, tucked under the letters. At that point the whole thing is solid, removeable, and can use used as a template to line up the SKYLINE letters.

I remember. Do you still have that "tool" lying around? Looks like something I could use if I go through this.

Actually, I saw it up in the attic just the other day, so yes, I still have it. Go figure. Why, did you already debadge?

I guess the question is whether the mounting tape stayed solid and in position so that it's still aligned properly? I don't know. I'd have to find it and take it out to the garage and see. Suppose I could do that. Hang on...

[edit]

Still fits perfect. Hmm.

Thanks for checking. It dawned on me that I probably just need the measurement from the bottom lip of the trunk to the bottom of the Skyline badge. I should be able to figure out centering it width wise, but if you have time the measurement from the ends of the letters to the side edges would come in handy too. No rush. I took the Infiniti letters off the trunk about as soon as I got the car.

Thanks. Debadged last year, just waiting for warmer weather to compound the shadow of 'INFINITI' off and apply Skyline and 370gt badges.

Note there's a kink in the trunk about 3" up from the lower lip, so it's not exactly a flat measurement.

The Skyline kick plates arrived yesterday and I installed the driver's side today. Nice improvement over my worn kick plate. Maybe nice enough to make me want to change the rest of the few remaining emblems on the car over to Skyline 370GT emblems.

This is everything in the kit. The front kick plates are illuminated and the rears also have "Skyline" on them unlike the blank stock rear kick plates. You will probably want to pick up some new adhesive because half of the adhesive that mine had did not stick. Of course I didn't notice this until the top half of the kick plate was already installed so that only gave me about 1/2" of working space to apply the new new adhesive. Yeah, that was loads of fun.

Tools of the trade. I would recommend picking up plastic razor blades to remove the old adhesive. Like a bonehead, I decided to remove the adhesive after all the stores closed so I had to resort to the small red plastic scrap in the bottom left to stand in as a plastic razor blade. Results were less than satisfactory.

Not quite half way through removing the adhesive. Prodigious use of the heat gun is recommended. Planning to do this in February in WI when it is quite cold is not.

Anyone read Japanese? The install is actually pretty easy if you already have illuminated kick plates. If you don't, all of the wiring and everything you need is included, but good luck with those directions.

Here is the fully prepped side sill with all of the adhesive removed. This takes awhile to do and your fingers get pretty raw so wear some gloves. I put duct tape over the holes to keep moisture/dirt out, but also to give the clips on the new kick plates something to grip a bit since they are too small for the holes.

Installed, but the letters look a little blurry because I forgot to take the plastic wrap off for this picture. Whoops!

Extreme close up!

I cruise Autotrader often looking for the perfect replacement for this car, but seldom find it. On rare occasion I check to see if there are any other stick shift G sedans on the market. Usually there are only a few and I usually convince myself to keep my car longer since the values are always less than what you expect.

However, today was different. There are only two G37S 6 speed manuals on the market with similar mileage to mine and both are bone stock. They are both older than my car and surprisingly the 2011 is asking $21,000 and the 2012 is asking $24,500. I realize a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, but I think this is a good sign for my car which has about $20,000 in upgrades to it. I wonder what someone would pay for it in its current state of tune.

Looking through all of the stock pictures of these cars reminds me just how far my car has come in the last few years.

Modded cars go for less usually, and if they do go for more it will be harder to find the right buyer.

Fortunately, that has never been my experience. Typically, the way I mod my cars (cleanly & professionally) I can usually only get back 25-50% of what I spend in mods. So I usually have to try to convince myself that I got my use out of it while I had it. On the flip side, I have seen way more poorly modded cars in bad taste that do go for less than stock so I can see your point.

True but it sounds like your clean car will only fit the 'right buyer'. I've never had an issue selling any of my cars either because they are cleaner and better taken care of then 99% of the comparables.

I was doing some research a few weeks ago and Carmax had a 2013 6MT w/44k miles for 20,900 which sold almost instantaneously. There's a buyer out there for everything.

Yet this guy here is asking $12,000 for what looks like a clean, stock 2013 6MT Sedan.

I genuinely have no idea what my car is worth. I guess around $15k... certainly less than that on trade (if at all, because mods), or more for the right buyer buying the right car. But probably not much more.
